Jeter has been seen at Steinbrenner Field. He is planning to unretire like Tom Brady and play another season. Finally, someone who can do more than walk, homer, or strikeout. I heard on Buster Olney's podcast that last season there were only five singles per game. No wonder batting averages are plummeting. It is now fashionable and laudatory to be Dave "Kong" Kingman.

When he was playing, Dave Kingman was considered a one-dimensional doofus strongboy. Little could we have suspected that he was a trailblazer.

Along the same lines of baseball's devolution, MLB Network showed a stat on the number of pitcher starts on four days rest and how it has changed dramatically just since 2016. In that year, 48 percent of starts came on four days rest. That number has declined every year until in 2021 it hit 33 percent.
I don't think it's going to turn around, which is why the six-man rotation seems to be lurking.

Or they can find pitchers who can pitch with less rest.

Another bone for me to pick: I advocated multiple times for the Yankees to employ a six-man rotation when we had Tanaka, who was so much better with an extra day of rest and to which he was accustomed in his native Japan. I also thought the top of the starting rotation would not be so ragged by playoff time.

Boone always had good hands. It’s the lineup construction, relief management, pick-up basketball part of his brain 🧠 that worries me.

Always our best source of professional quality spring trading photographic work. Remember here, folks, we only get this content right here, AND it’s free. The same goes for Kaybi’s photo shop comedy, Rizz’s vocabulary gymnastics, Pipps eidetic memory of events the rest of us were too young to see or not even born yet, Anthony’s youthful incites, Dome’s unique views, Renfield’s home spun observations and comedic approach, and my own occasionally appreciable babbling, and other contributions we get here, we actually pay each other back and forth for just being here. *if I skipped commenting on you and you would like to be added to this list, please let me know. I’m getting older. I sometimes forget where I am, much less what I’m talking about at a given time…
