First lineup of the season!
Dome would approve this for opening day of the actual season…except he’d want the Martian and Volpe in there….

Actually, I don't understand why we are seeing Jose Peraza and not Oswaldo Peraza. Oswald was on the 40 man roster and therefore just reached Spring Training because of the lockout so he wasn't as ready as prospects such as Volpe who weren't on the 40 and were already in Spring Training.

I like Alfalfa getting a look at lead off… He had 172 hits last season, which would have led the Yankees, so it makes sense. And, he puts the ball in play - not a strikeout machine. Yesterday, on the way back from my sister's house, Buster Olney and Tim Kurkjian spoke with reverence about the way IKF plays the game, saying that Yankee fans are going to love him. They also said that his confidence if off the charts; he thinks he is the best shortstop in the league. The way they described him, it's just his enthusiasm for the game and his trust in his ability to play it. This demeanor to me is old-school baseball. The confidence of true competitors, like Munson and Pinella and Nettles. They did not think of themselves as no-doubt Hall of Famers, but they were not going to take a backseat to anyone on the field of play.

I never reached great heights, but when I took centerfield, I was in my office. If the left fielder was crowding me, I’d tell him to cover the line. I even remember telling one or three to “get out of my shirt”… 😎 I was certain I could catch anything hit that was any where close to being catchable. Go get ‘em Alfalfa-Hay!!!

We would have been great teammates, Inger. The outfield would have been your domain; I hated playing out there. Too ADHD, too distractible, not enough repetition like the infield. My preference was the mound - always having the ball in hand. The game could not begin until I delivered the pitch. More fun, much easier for me to focus, and already warmed up when it was my time to bat.

Falefal goes 2 for 3 including a double in his first ST ABs as a Yankee. Fake Peraza, Duran Duran, and Austin Wells all have RBIs.

I don't know why I think of that when I see Isiah Kliner-Falefa? Fake Peraza is a great name! Wells may be on a fast tract for next season - he could fly through the minors with his bat this season.

Maybe we need a hard-nosed SOB on our side… All we need is one good year out of him. After that, anything else might even mean he’s in somebody’s way… Volpe at 3Rd, Peraza (the real one) at SS… set to go. Alfalfa at 2B. Nothing is getting through up the middle. Caught! By a diving Peraza! No more pasta served…
