Yankees' Gardner not pleased with pace-of-play fines
New York Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner told Newsday that he was fined "thousands of dollars" in June for violating Major League Baseball's pace-of-play rules and he's not happy about it.
The New York Post reported the total Gardner was fined was approximately $3,500.
Gardner told reporters that "nothing I say about that is going to do me any good," but he made it clear to Newsday that he isn't happy about being singled out for taking too long, in MLB's opinion, to get into the batter's box.
"My agent started taking care of it," Gardner said. "I told them don't talk to me about it. I've got more things to worry about than taking three seconds too long to get to the box. Somebody else can (throw pickoff throws to first base) 27 times in a game and waste 15 minutes of everybody's time, and I get fined thousands of dollars taking three seconds too long to get in the box."
Oh Wow, I caught O'Neill talking about Gardner being fined for taking too long yesterday... I thought he was making a joke. I think yesterday Gardy was taking his time on purpose... it seemed like he was stepping out and taking a lot more time out of the batters box than usual

Well, it sucks that Gleyber goes on the DL, but I hope Wade gets a brief stint at 2B just to see what he does with it...I'd still rather see Wade there than Drury. Much better defense! I won't even say how I feel about Walker getting all that time. I think Wade came to ST with a lot of great ideas from Pujols which he initially implemented well. After a bit, I think it got him messed up mentally and he was trying to establish that he could hit for power. If he's back to playing within himself while still applying the principles he learned from Pujols, he may indeed be much improved...

I have no doubt about Tequila's intellect. Due to prejudice, she is unemployable as the GM of the NY Yankees. It IS possible, however remote the possibility that I, as a human could land such a job. Therefore, my opinion will trump hers and I am still making the trade...If it were for or could be for real...

I was very disappointed with Drury What did he do wrong? What should he have done? Stepped into a phone booth, put on a cape and jumped tall buildings in a single bound???

Idk how close you follow my posts but ive been one of Drurys biggest fans. Anything short of batting 300 with a few home runs would be disappointing to me lol. Seriously though his swings and pitch selection weren't great to my untrained eye

Seriously though his swings and pitch selection weren't great to my untrained eye Sierchio's been a big fan of Drury ever since he was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in 2010. He has watched him play through the minor leagues and watched almost all his big league at bats with the Diamondbacks. He is the foremost expert on Brandon Drury. Either that or he pulled his support for Drury out of his ass one day, I'm not sure which.
