This is more of a general vexation than any kind of "news", but I am so beyond done with Cashman. His two deadline moves to ostensibly improve a woeful bullpen have somehow made it substantially worse...so much so that one of the guys is already on another team. His FA moves almost always disappoint/underform. He's lousy at constructing a roster. His expiration date feels like it was 10-15 years ago. Unfortunately, because we continue to be just good enough most years to play in October (never mind that it's been 14 straight without a pennant), I don't see Hal making any kind of move to replace him. I have essentially zero faith in Cashman to put together a team that's gonna bring ring 28.
This year's so wide open, that I'm hesitant to say they can't win the pennant, but do I see this team holding up against the NL's best? Not really. Unfortunately, it feels like we are going to need a total collapse and just a disastrous 90-95 loss season (or two) to get new blood in the front office and that really bugs me.

This drives me nuts. He has been OBJECTIVELY absolutely horrific since mid-May. Kahnle and Cousins have actually been quite good since that point. There is no reason to not give somebody else a shot. It's not like we're talking about a guy who was elite for several years and just needs to "work through it." He's been pretty shaky throughout much of his tenure. Is there an obvious candidate? No, but there is no reason to not give somebody else a shot when Holmes is converting 59% of his save opportunities since May 20.

I get not throwing the guy under the bus, but he could at least acknowledge the need for improvement instead of just saying we're sticking with him no matter how bad he is. Surely he knows this.

I was really hoping they'd ask me to do play-by-play. Could have brought in Pipps for the color commentary and historical factoids and anecdotes. Noetsi would be in charge of in-game interviews. I figure that would take care of having to endure those things during the playoffs.

Doesn't seem fair to the guy who's currently doing the games.

Doesn't seem fair to the guy who's currently doing the games. Nobody seems to know who that guy (or guys) is. I do know Ricky Ricardo when he's in the booth. Even before Sterling retired I thought Ricky would make a good radio broadcaster. He's been doing games in Spanish and he shows up in both NY and Philly.

Two remarkable facts. On a team with really two good hitters we lead the AL in runs scored. And second we are a far better away than home, team something I can not remember being true in the past.
Maybe my memory is just bad.
