Salary dump out not Grisham is a Yankee Dud because of Cashman. How's that?? I believe you've said Cashman should hand Soto a blank check. Should he have refused to take Grisham and lost Soto as a result? I believe at this point Cashman should offer Soto a blank check to stay. I said before the trade I did not really see Soto play before and I love watching him this year. He might not be the best OFer to play the game BUT he is a generational player.
As for the trade, Cashman was an absolute moron to rent Soto for one year with no guarantee he would stay.

This now could be a Cashman Ego situation. He would have to DFA a trade piece he made and it would be considered a fail. He has shown he would keep an under performing player and keep Jasson in AAA if it meant not admitting a mistake. Cashman didn't trade for Grisham...San Diego required Yanks take him as part of the Soto deal as a salary dump. Did Grisham get that $$$ after an arbitration win ? That was a big deal for a guy coming off a down year.

Sorry...having trouble following your "logic"... What does any of that have to do with Grisham?

I believe the trade should have been made but with no guarantee should have played a little hardball. No one can go back in time but if he is one an done it's a epic fail.

Looks like Nestor will be pitching out of the bullpen.

Aren’t we still paying for Aaron Hicks?

If such guarantee means that Soto would have to sign a contract extension before any trade was made, in my opinion either Dominguez or Jones would have had to be included in such a trade. I understand what you're saying, I don't like when the Yankees trade for players in their contract years. But, for what the Padres took for Soto, Cashman had to make that trade.

I've had the late 70's, I've had the late 90's, I've had 2009. I would love Championships every year but having Judge and Soto back to back for years is something I would love to see. Fire Cashman and the entire staff and start developing major league talent. I don't want to let Soto go so we can sign other teams starts develop our own from know on.
