While manaea goes to the padres Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That's the Yankees. They could use another starter but they just make trades for relievers and backup catchers.

This team is frustrating. Minimal improvements. Blaming other things but themselves for lack of success. Can't get over 2017. Not saying they have no shot but after blowing like 15 games last year on pure stupidity you would think enough was enough and I guess it was in a sense which is why they got rid of Sanchez but signing just one of the big free agents or trading for one of these better players would make feel a lot better about this team.

Castro is more accomplished than Rodriguez, but runs into stretches of poor control. Last year his K rate tumbled to just below 10/9, but his hits allowed per nine went a a career low 6.1. He’s younger than Joely, and I believe his upside to be quite a bit higher. He knows what it’s like to pitch in NY, and at 27 he could still hit his stride. I like the deal. Sure, it’s only a slight incremental deal, but he’s a power pitcher that limited HR last season. Welcome to the staff. Now go shave! …

Defense and base running were where most of the stupid crap happened last year… let’s watch! …

I have little to no knowledge of Miguel Castro. Anyone want to weigh in on the advantages for both teams?

I have little to no knowledge of Miguel Castro. Anyone want to weigh in on the advantages for both teams? Joely Rodriguez is a tough sell for a lefty who has struggled against righty batters in a division with so many good righty hitters and a 3 batter minimum rule. Instead we get Castro who has incredible stuff with a 98 mph sinker but just walks too many guys. Maybe Matt Blake can work his magic with him. Also, this means Manny Banuelos probably makes the team.

Castro sounds like a type of replacement for Zack Britton, big time sinker with occasional control issues.

Castro sounds like a type of replacement for Zack Britton, big time sinker with occasional control issues. Not exactly. Not near as heavy reliance on the sinker. Has a nasty slider and inconsistent change up. He was one of the high level suspected culprits of “sticky stuff” usage last year. He struggled a bit when the ban was placed but adjusted as the season went on… From FanGraphs below: (yay! The format held)… Looks as though if he can harness that stuff his overall ability would jump a long way. He’s 6’7” and a skinny 205.
