Things that happen for long periods of time can't be assigned to bad luck. Well I guess they can be. But after a while if X > Y and not z there is probably a reason. Well that is what they taught me in statistics. They could always be wrong. You're right on. Hitters that make weak contact for a long time are going to have low batting avg's. Guys that make consistent hard contact will have higher batting averages. Batters who hit the ball hard at the base runner are going to be on less than batters who place he ball where the defense is not. Which you argue batters have no control of I know- where they hit the ball. Its where the ball goes not how hard that matters, regardless. I won't argue the point any more. Just like not bunting its the conventional wisdom. |

The Blue Jay hitter skillfully aims the ball at second base with soft spin to collect a hit… If only the Yankees would train our guys to do that. And to bunt like we did in our last ups. Last ups during which bunts and soft contact led to zero runs. But, boy was it fun! Much better than say, back to back HR… 🙄
