We were so fortunate to get a win out of this game. Usually losses teach us the most, but we were able to take a few things away from this win.
Boone left Severino in a bit too long. It was evident in the fifth inning that he was losing steam and his pitches were getting up and fitting either a bit too much plate or wandering off the plate. I’m hoping there was a purpose behind that, like continuing to stretch him out with a nice lead. His comeback continues look good, though I’d love to see that he can still top out at 100. He’s been more in the 95-96 range. He did continue to build in this start.
The bullpen faltered again. Part of the reason is the continued stupidity of having too many pitchers, causing pitchers like Lucas Luetge that are used to regular action to be too lightly used. But, we could not have chosen a better day for the bullpen to struggle a bit than a day when Rizzo decided to pop 3 HR, and the team popped for 12 runs.
I’m starting to feel a bit concerned about Loaisiga, who’s ERA is over 8 runs per game now. Did we over use that golden arm last year? It’s early, but he’s been wild in and out of the strike zone. His command was nearly impeccable last season…

Loaisiga doesn't look to same this season.
