Cone's explanation of Gary Carter's advice for throwing strikes is baseball talk I could listen to for hours.

Last night the Orioles pitched Alexander Wells. Tonight it's Tyler Wells. Of course we all remember David Wells. And for many years there was Kip Wells.
It led me to Vernon Wells. I noticed that his career BA was .270. He also hit 270 HRs. There can't be many players whose BA and HR number is the same.
It's meaningless, I know, but there you have it. It's strange. Like something from H.G. Welles.

Carter was a big catcher at 6'2" 210 pounds and rock solid. I always admired that he seemed to be a cerebral guy behind the plate, too. Gone too soon.

Mea maxima culpa. We will make no wine before its time. (If you remember that old Orson Welles wine ad.)

Damn, 12 and 13 years ago! Kaybli, what was that perpetual trade proposal on here involving IPK and Melky Cabrera? I can't remember the whole thing. IPK, Melky, and Igawa for the world!

His interviews with Dick Cavett on YouTube are fun to revisit. I catch something different each time. Such a bon vivant and gregarious personality. There are certain people that understand the art of conversation. Orson Welles is definitely on my perpetual dinner list.

Most of the time it was for Felix Hernandez in Seattle. Not specifically a Karl trade. It was a joke that every armchair GM trade made on the Pinstripe Plus Forum included IPK, Melky, and Igawa. And basically you could get whatever you wanted with that package.
