I heard Tim Kurkjian on the Buster Olney podcast state that the 1939 New York Yankees outscored their opponents by 411 runs! That was the fourth consecutive Yankee championship team, and the one with the best record at 106-45. The Pythagorean record was 111-40. A team OBP of .374. And all of that after losing Lou Gehrig at the start of the season. What a team. I think I read or recall that the 1932 Yankees had nine Hall of Famers. |

I'm stuck with the Rays broadcast. It was pointed out that the highest BA of any starter on either team was Yandy Diaz's .269. He and Gleyber Torres are the only players hitting over .260. Oddly, I’ve been getting the YES team for most of this month. I don’t know if it’s due to the opponent or some sort of settlement, or what. I’ll take it. It truly is a pleasure and I’ve really come to appreciate Horsehead, I mean, Michael Kay… |

Yep, I just checked it out -- Dickey, Gehrig, Lazzeri, Ruth, Combs, Gomez, Pennock, Ruffing and Manager McCarthy. Sounds like a visit to Monument Park. |

They aren't that bad. The lead broadcaster is former Yankee guy DeWayne Staats, who I remember from the old MSG days. |
