Short scouting report on Elvodia from reddit:
Another short one today because of lack of time on my side.
The yanks will face righty Nathan Eovaldi. He owns a 3.16 ERA over 68.1 IP.
some short nuggets:
He throws a 4sm Fastball, Splitter, Slider (righties only), Curveball and some Cutters. His best Pitches are the 4sm Fastball and Splitter. Against Lefties He almost only throws the 4sm, Curve and Splitter. Against righties he throws all of his pitches, but with the slider being his "strikeout pitch".
His splits against lefties and righties is pretty even, so dont expect a righty or lefty heavy lineup tonight.
His 3.16 ERA is very "lucky" because his allowed OPS (.725) and xERA (4.30) both suggest he is pitching worse than the 3.16 ERA. Castillo yesterday had allowed 5 HR all year, Eovaldi allowed 16 so far, 2 by Yankees on Opening Day (Rizzo, Stanton).
Eovaldi is coming off the IL and is pitching his first game since June. He had been going pretty deep into games as he already had 68.1 IP at that point.
Lets welcome back Eovaldi with a Yankees only Homerun Derby in the Bronx since no yankee got invited to the one in LA next week.
