Anyone starting to feel bad for Hicks? Almost? A little bit, I can't lie. At 10 million per year, traveling in private jets, staying at 5 star hotels between games? Aaron Hicks drops his baby, waits in corner for mother to come pick him up. Judge walks in room, pats Hicks on the back and says, "Don't worry about it." Mother yells at Hicks, telling him the baby hates you. Hicks takes a swing at the mother but the arc is so long and slow, the mother is able to light a cigarette, pick a mot of tobacco from her teeth, turn and casually walk away while the swing misses her by two feet. Cashman enters the room and hands Hicks the baby. The baby starts crying. Hicks decides the baby is hungry and to get a bottle from the fridge. Hicks takes bad route to the refrigerator and winds up at the dishwasher. Hicks reaches wildly for the fridge and drops the baby.

Anyone starting to feel bad for Hicks? Almost? A little bit, I can't lie. It's possible to both feel badly for Hicks and wish he would be DFAd this very moment for his horrific, sub-major league play. He seems to be a very decent guy, which makes it tough to watch the fans jeer him and even go so far as to chant "Joey Gallo" at him. The ultimate insult. But he's awful. He has been hurting the team all year, and still has three years left on his contract after this year. Cashman must be seeing something in him that nobody else can see. Maybe the fans getting on Hicks will help Cashman focus on what a disaster he is, because I'm not convinced he gets it. I can't prove it, but I believe fan reaction played a role in expediting the long-overdue removal of Sanchez and Gallo.

A fascinating question question is why year after year we get devastated by injuries. Carpenter and Benentendi are literal bad luck injuries. Rizzo is prob back when he's eligible Tuesday? DJ there seems to be no straight answer on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk That lineup we're seeing out there now could be very close to the lineup the Yankees roll out in the post-season. With the dubious addition of Josh Donaldson. According to the MLB.COM injury report, the Yankees "hope" that DJLM and Matt Carpenter make it back this year, and "hope" that Benintendi will return by early October. I didn't see anything about "expecting" them to return. Rizzo's headaches clearly have them baffled, and no date for a return can be given at this time. Stanton is always a roll of the dice, quick to be injured, slow to heal and slower still to get his timing back. Both Wander Franco and Bryce Harper missed more time than Stanton, but both came out hitting their first game back. The Yankees are not by a long shot unique with their casualty list. Until the last few days, the Rays played the better part of two months missing starting position players Mike Zunino, Brandon Lowe, Wander Franco, Kevin Kiermaier and Manny Margot. They have been without their number one starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow all year, have had their replacement ace Shane McLanahan unavailable for these last two series against the Yanks, and have been without other key pitchers like J.P Feyereisen, Andrew Kitteredge and Shane Baz for long periods. Yet during that time they've picked up 12 games on the Yankees. It's a war of attrition, and the Yankees so far are not fighting it well.

The Yankees have not maintained the same level of tenacity and confidence that the Rays exhibit game in and game out. Perhaps, this is related to expectations, the labors of dealing with reporters and a different type of spotlight, or it could also point to the construction of the 40-man roster and their minor leagues, or it could be the shadow that is cast by each of their respective managers.

I would take TB Mgr's over Boone at a blink of the eye. Watching TB played with excitment/attutide and thgan watching OUR non prospect players = what a difference...

Just go out with a bang, Yankees. Bring up Volpe. Play all the kids. Get swept in the Playoffs but have these young guns for the future. The vets just don't have it anymore. They're old and useless. Hicks, Donaldson, Gonzalez, Torres, Chapman, and maybe even DJ. USELESS. AGREED!!!

I had no real problem with Montas’ performance last night. He was ambushed by the Ray’s first pitch attack in the first. He allowed two hits on soft tappers that IKF was not able to convert into outs, and fell victim to the infamous Aaron Hicks “I fought the Ball and the Ball Won” outfield play…He needed better luck for the fielders behind him, and some offensive support…

(Rizzo, Benintendi, Carpenter) We could just have all of our right handed hitters (except Judge) turn around and bat left handed. Why not? How much worse could they be?… And we could keep Florial in the lineup and see if can start producing…
