Old Utah hated O'Neill, preferring to listen to the other broadcast. I liked Utah a lot, but he could be a cranky old prospector at times. I think a man that was used to getting his way. No one would usually question him in life. But this forum was different. He got challenged here a few times. It was a tough adjustment for him. No one rubbed Utah the wrong way like I did. He wanted me banned from the forum. Oh man. I didn't know that. That's pretty nasty. Oh, yeah. There were seemingly multiple axes he had to grind for me. He didn't like that my posts often used statistics to make a point. He thought because I lived in California that I was a Californian. Evidently, because my avatar was a photo of Phil Rizzuto turning a double play at short that I was an "angry, little man." I told him one out of three is a good batting average. |

It isn't blind old fogeyism to note that official scorers are far more reluctant to call errors than was formerly the case. No wonder fielding percentages are higher.
