Here's my predicted ALDS Roster:
Starters: C Jose Trevino 1B Anthony Rizzo 2B Gleyber Torres SS IKF (I would put Peraza here if I had my way)
3B Josh Donaldson (I would put DJ here if I had my way) LF Oswaldo Cabrera CF Harrison Bader RF Aaron Judge DH Giancarlo Stanton
Bench: C Kyle Higashioka IF DJ LeMahieu OF Aaron Hicks (I'd put Locastro here if I had my way) DH Matt Carpenter
Starters: Gerrit Cole Nestor Cortes Luis Severino Jameson Taillon
Bullpen: Clay Holmes Jonathan Loaisiga Scott Effross Wandy Peralta Lou Trevino Lucas Luetge Miguel Castro
Domingo German Clarke Schmidt
Thoughts?
Nice job, Kay! I don't want to try to predict starting position players, but I would have a tough time leaving off Oswald Peraza from the playoff roster. And, I'm not convinced Carpenter or Wandy will be ready. And, though I know people will not want to hear it, I have a tough time believing Chapman won't be in the bullpen in the playoffs. Too many injuries to relief corps, and since his return from the stupid infected knee, he's had five good outings and two bad ones. And, it's been walks, not hits that was the problem in those two.

I don't think I can handle the Chapman roller coaster ride in the playoffs. Hopefully he won't be in any high leverage situations. Maybe just in to eat innings in a blowout. Am I the only one who believes in Carpenter? Mustache Magic!

Am I the only one who believes in Carpenter? Mustache Magic! It all depends upon the starters. If they go seven innings, Chapman might be avoided. If they go five or six, you better believe Chapman will find a couple spots somewhere, especially if lefties are up. Remember, there is not a single sure thing in that bullpen right now - not one. At least two relievers are going to have be on and economical each and every time. Luetge is the mop up guy and maybe Weissert if he makes it. I'd drop Donaldson if Carpenter is healthy, which would mean Stanton would have to play the field sometimes.

So who would you guys rather face in the ALDS, the Guardians or the Rays? I would avoid the Rays, if i could. Something about that team and playing the Yankees makes them tough to beat. But, unless Boonie finds a way to lose, the Yankees should be able to handle either one. Right? Right, I hope.

Not like the Rays scare me all that much either though.

The Yankees are better than both teams, but their bats have been so inconsistent, who knows which group of Yankee hitters will show up for the ALDS?

Aaron Boone on the Michael Kay Show walked back his previous answer on who is starting Game 1. Had previously said Cole. Now TBD.

Unfortunately, I think they stick with Cole for Game 1. They don't want to mess him up mentally whether that's right or wrong.

He’s already messed up, so go ahead and drive his ass the rest of the way over the cliff… Let’s win games. If he pitches game three we can hope to rock the score back and forth and win it 7-6…

It's likely going to be Yankees against Astros when it's all said and done, but one step at a time here I think the Yankees have a better shot against Cleveland as Tampa just is annoying and gets in the Yankees heads sometimes.

Highlights:
Benintendi is currently a “maybe / probably at best.” In regards to coming back. Boone’s exact words in quotes.
Depending on if DJ or Benintendi come back healthy enough then one of them could lead off and Judge would be batting 2nd.
Carpenter is almost guaranteed to be on the roster but he might not play the field in the first round but definitely trending towards being a “bullet off the bench” - Boone.
Chapman being on the roster is not guaranteed. Boone said “we’ll see” and that there’s still 5 days off. They have to decide if they’ll have 12 or 13 pitchers and have to see how Holmes, Wandy etc are when they come back.
Also, DJ might initially be a pinch hitter off the bench. Apparently they’ve been holding back on some treatments that they’ve been waiting on.
Stanton playing the outfield could happen in the case of an emergency but he wouldn’t be actively starting in the OF.

A ton of ifs to his roster construction. If Stanton and Carpenter are on the playoff roster, Boone may stupidly leave off Peraza, which would be a mistake, as one of the few players who is a legitimate stolen base threat.
