I'm sure the Yankees cashed in fine with all the food and beverage sales and they get to do it again tomorrow, Hal's elated. Yup! Just like the last game I went to. We bought a ton of food and then they just called the game.

Glenn Miller. My parents played his stuff all the time and once I was mature enough to expand beyond all rock and soul I loved his music too. What a rich and distinctive sound.

Glenn Miller. My parents played his stuff all the time and once I was mature enough to expand beyond all rock and soul I loved his music too. What a rich and distinctive sound. Ruthie has some of her father's old albums. He had extremely varied tastes. Glenn Miller and a few other big bands are in the collection. She says I remind her of her father, who changed churches/religions regularly. The family would always go where he said to. They were even going to a Mormon church for a while. He was very inquisitive like I am, willing to reach into realms like ghosts (no my thing) and spirits (my thing). They wandered like nomads as he tried to find the right place to live…I think I’m settling down out here in this valley. I hope so. If I move again, I swear I’ll sell everything I have and not go through the misery of packing/unpacking again. We’re doing pretty well with it though. Steady wins the race…

When I was a bartender in the 70's, I used to go breakfast at 2am at the local greasy spoon, "The Stagecoach". Of course we called it "The Roachcoach". One night we had a rat die under our table, but they had a good jukebox and I always played two songs, Procol Harem's "Conquistador" and Miller's "In the Mood". Still think about that place when I hear either of those great songs.

Though their popularity came before my time, I still enjoy Dean Martin, Perry Como, Andy Williams (he had a solid revival with Love Story and The Godfather movie that was in my time). There was a time when a classic voice sold records..

I might get to watch this game with a link on my computer tonight. Fingers crossed that the guy shows up and gets us on line. The office is “sort of” set up now. Computer in place…
And this would be a link on my computer, not my phone, so hopefully I can dodge those stupid credit card requests.
I’ve also been unable to access my bank accounts to this point on my phone from out here. I’ve got about $16K I need to unload to pay off various bills (none are overdue)… I’d rather keep the money, but that’s not how life works, is it? …

Civale is usually pretty efficient with his pitch counts, but 5-6 innings is about all you’d expect to see out him. He has a career 105 ERA, but this season it’s on 78, as his actual mark was 4.92. If he has an average day, we’ll get about a hit per inning, he might walk a batter. He’s a so-so fielder. Until this season he’s been tough to run on, but in 2022 8 out of 9 succeeded in his 20 starts. He had right forearm inflammation at the end of August. His career marks against NY are 1-3, 4.72… A very beatable pitcher, quoted earlier this year as saying he goes more by his instincts than scouting reports because he fancies himself able to read hitters and situations. Kaybli, do you have your usual scouting report with what he throws, etc.?…

If we win, will we credit Bader with carrying the offense? … Yes! But hopefully some other players step up today. We got to knock Civale around early!

...Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi received an injection in his wrist this week after experiencing continued pain in his ailing right wrist, tweets MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch. Benintendi underwent surgery in early September after suffering a hamate fracture in his wrist and has not appeared in a game since.
There’s been hope that, if the Yankees advance beyond today’s ALDS Game 5 against the Guardians, that he could potentially return for the ALCS, though the latest update on him casts plenty of doubt on that possibility. If the Yankees were to advance, they’d have to announce an ALCS roster by 10am CT tomorrow. Benintendi hit .304/.373/.399 with five home runs in 521 plate appearances prior to his injury — including a .254/.331/.404 output in 131 plate appearances with the Yankees (following a trade from the Royals).
