Wow, Javier has 194 strikeouts in 148 and 2/3rds innings and a WHIP of 0.948 with a 2.54 ERA. It looks like IKF is now a bench guy - and Cabrera and Peraza will split duties at shortstop depending upon whether the starter is a lefty or a righty. Not so sure about Stanton playing left field in Yankee Stadium. I'd prefer to put Bader in left, Judge in center, and Stanton in right.

We might not have caught such a big break missing McCullers today… Can you imagine being the regular SS all year and having the job snatched away for the post season? Shades of Ray Oyler and Mickey Stanley!…

What's the over/under on K's for Carpenter and Donaldson?

What's the over/under on K's for Carpenter and Donaldson? I’d say 4.5. Realistically, it’s 5.5, but we have to leave some room for betting odds, and random result… so…

What's the over/under on K's for Carpenter and Donaldson? I am thinking no more than six, no fewer than four.

I by any means think the Yanks are out of it. It's not like the Astros are killing them, but I do believe they have to win the next two.

He (Stanton) is only going to catch what’s within about 40 feet of him. That’s if it hangs up in the air a bit. Bad choice that could cost us more runs than we can score unless we’re lucky…

Carpenter's 0-7 with 7 strikeouts in the postseason, so naturally he's the DH and batting 5th. And Stanton is playing LF at the Stadium. And after making several great defensive plays in game 2, Peraza is on the bench. It's the Yankee way.

He had been essentially finished for three years. Discovered a way he could change his swing that worked for a little while. I don’t look for him to continue to be productive going forward. It was a nice story, but it’s over… sort of like Mike Ford and Tauchman, oh… and Maybin in 2019…

It was a nice story, but it’s over… sort of like Mike Ford and Tauchman, oh… and Maybin in 2019… The difference is that Mike Ford, Mike Tauchman, Cameron Maybin were never on the level of Matt Carpenter, and they had their runs all in the juiced ball year of 2019. There is nothing wrong with Carpenter's swing or approach, it's his timing, and to think that he could get that back after so long a layoff with a handful of simulated at-bats or minor league games was unrealistic. I really like Matt Carpenter, but he should not have been on the playoff roster. In the meantime, the Yankees had a rookie with a great glove at shortstop who in 50 at bats had an OPS+ of 139, hit .306/.404/.429/.832, able to put the ball in play, and steal a base: EXACTLY what the Yankees were looking for, yet they left him off the playoff roster. Then, leave him on the bench. Inane.
