just asking a question, since the players have quite a bit of power now....does a player such as Betances have to agree to a minor league assignment, or can the Yankees demand it? Winning ML games is too important to risk a pitcher throwing like he is now...the game at that point hinged on Robertson coming in and shutting down the Twins........
It will need to be addressed soon....the Yankees cannot be a pitcher short for long while Betances works on the sidelines, and their use of him is really limited to blowouts...who is it here that thinks Gil Patterson can solve this type of problem? ...and, where is he?...

I'm not certain of how to REALLY know this, but this article... Says he is out of options...As such, then the only way to assign him to the minor would be an outright assignment, which would require him to clear waivers first. In spite of his struggles, I would expect he would be snagged by someone that is hoping to see him recover from his "yips" or whatever you want to call it... www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/03/mlb-players-out-of-options-2018.html

thanks inger...if you are right, I agree it is too early to put him on waivers unless it is just to judge interest....some teams would be interested, for sure...

On the other hand, I don't like it when a player is able to hold his team hostage due to contract issues or union status, whatever. There are times that you add by subtraction. Knowing when to pull the plug is definitely a talent, and it's best left to folks far less impetuous than I can be...
