If he's going to start and hit .216, he might as well do so while hitting 30+ homers. Like Sandwich, I have always been leery of players who get nearly all of their week's production in a single game. Donaldson's going to have to make an ass of me for months before I reconsider his worth of being on the team, much less in the lineup. If the Yankees were smart, they would hope for a hot streak and then trade him. That will never happen with Cashman at the helm. Agreed on all counts.

Thrown Out On The Bases Like a Nincompoop! For some reason, it will not stay in my head. Have you been watching any of March Madness? I'm pulling for the Lady Tigers today in their match up against Utah. The university, not our departed poster. I'm hyped about Princeton, my hometown school that rejected me!

Did you mention on your application that you were a connoisseur of French Onion Soup? That may have broken the tie with someone. You probably didn't tout your photoshop skills or the efficacy of your rally craps. Often, it is what makes us unique that can provide notice.

It turned out better not wasting all that money and going to school for free at Stevens Tech thanks to my dad being a professor there.

Ortega steals a base after singling… he lead the Cubs in TOOTBLAN last year. Just something to consider… I always forget what that stands for? Thrown out on the bases like a nincompoop… Unfortunately, the stat normally shows how many times thrown out on the bases (Tootb) but it doesn’t separate the (lan) like a nincompoop. Some times you just get thrown out and the coach told you to go, or the game situation called for addition risk. On those cases you may not have been acting like a nincompoop. But as of Sept. 5 (date of the article) Ortega was being accused of 16 TOOTBLAN, which was 5 more than Wilson Contreras, who was second. I would bet that Gleyber lead the Yankees in TOOTBLAN last year…

He's got to be our opening day SS:
I have thought that for a week now; however, it is my understanding that Cashman is still employed, so I am not as certain that it will actually happen.

Donaldson locks in, then blasts off -- twice After tinkering with swing mechanics, third baseman optimistic about '23 rebound “My body feels really good right now; I feel strong at the plate,” Donaldson said. “I’m making my mechanics look similar to what I’m trying to accomplish. I’m seeing it well, where I can go into the box now at this point of Spring Training and trust my eyes, just letting my body move how I’ve been preparing it to.”
“It’s absolutely still in there,” Boone said. “He’s twitchy, he’s strong. He’s got power. He got dinged a little bit last year. He’s just got to know that’s still in there, because it is.”
Reflecting on his 2022 season, Donaldson said: “I kept grinding on it and grinding on it, and I just wasn’t really able to find the spot where I wanted it to be. I’d have a couple of good games here or there, and then it would get inconsistent again. The goal is to go out there each and every day and have the mentality that you’re going to put together a good at-bat.”
Hal Steinbrenner, the Yankees’ managing general partner, has said that he is “optimistic” Donaldson will put forth a more complete performance in 2023.
“The defense is rock solid; that won’t change,” Steinbrenner said. “Talking to certain people, the [2022] lockout affected some players, I think. As I’ve talked to people about Josh, there’s an opinion that maybe it affected him more than other players, for a variety of reasons. Nonetheless, yes, I am expecting a bounce-back year for him.”
