Anyone understand the necklace fad among baseball players? It's like once they make it on a 26-man roster, they all go shopping at the same jewelry store. are you referring to the Polly necklaces? Top of the line necklaces cost about $200

Didn't Boone say that Stanton would play the outfield in one of games with the Redsox this past weekend. Then with rainout, he said Stanton would play the outfield in Tuesday's game.

I am so glad they are leading BUT I was furious during the first inning. Boone should've yanked Rizzo out of the game and sat him down. This team is playing like absolute crap and the vet gets into a HR trot on a misplayed fly ball? You hustle on every play when you are playing like crap.

Chi, I actually watched that show -- I watched anything with rock bands in those days. It was 1967. Jagger actually did say "spend some time together" but very sarcastically and while making faces. Sullivan said they would never be on his show again, but being a smart businessman he changed his mind. Sullivan had issues with a lot of rock acts going back to Buddy Holly, who did a song called "Oh Boy" that Ed considered risqué. He got revenge by turning down the mics and amps of the backing group The Crickets. Again he said that Holly would never be invited back, but Buddy beat him at his own game by getting killed in a plane crash soon afterward. Thanks for the correction, pipps. I always thought the bad boy Stones pulled a fast one on Ed. I'm disappointed that the story wasn't true. In some ways they did. Anybody who knew The Stones knew what Jagger was doing and thought it was hilarious. The Doors had a similar issue with "Light My Fire" because of the line about getting higher. But they did it the way they did on the record and Sullivan was ticked off. I don't think he ever did have them back. Sullivan wasn't really a bad guy -- he gave a lot of rock and soul acts their big breaks -- but he was squeamish about anything he considered blatantly sexual or drug-related. One of his closest friends from childhood was the great golfer Gene Sarazen.

You hustle all the time, when you're playing well and when you're playing like crap. Boone just lets it go. It started a long time ago with Robinson Cano, who most Yankee fans defended for his jogging to first base. The reasoning was "what if he gets hurt running hard to first base on a routine groundout?" These were the same fans who described Jeter's play as "fake hustle." This made no sense to me; either you hustle or you don't. How can you tell if it's fake or not? Stupid argument but many fans bought into it. Lots of younger players followed Cano's example.
