Looking at the rosters of the “less fortunate” teams, I’m not seeing a lot of help available on the market. At least not the kind of help that’s going to turn this team around. Maybe I’m missing something there.
Maybe we’d have to look to the teams that want MLB talent that may put them over the top. Or maybe we should look to the farm. If we did, Peraza and Florial may be helpful additions to the MLB roster. Maybe Rortvedt if we’re willing to deal Higgy or Trevino. Personally, I’d like to see a platoon of Higgy and and Rortvedt. Realistically, Higashioka is 33, so the clock is ticking for him in NY. Having two catchers that can’t muster an OBP of .300 is disturbing to me…

I hope we don’t get him… even if he’s paid by the Mets… He’ll be done soon…

Cohen made clear in his media availability on Wednesday that he finds the team’s performance this season “incredibly frustrating,” he more than trusts Eppler to execute what could be a significant trade deadline for the future of the franchise. If the Mets fail to gain ground in the Wild Card standings in the coming weeks, they could talk to other teams about plenty of players, from Max Scherzer to Justin Verlander to Starling Marte to Tommy Pham to Omar Narvaez to David Robertson to Adam Ottavino to Mark Canha. A deeper sell-off would involve Pete Alonso, who is under team control through next season and would present the best opportunity to stock the farm system. Trading free agents-to-be like Robertson, Pham and Canha wouldn’t compromise next season, but moving Scherzer, Verlander, Ottavino, or anyone else under a multi-year contract would necessitate a plan to replace those veterans in 2024, which Cohen will enter with a renewed set of championship expectations. sny.tv/articles/mets-future-steve-cohen-billy-eppler-max-scherzer-trade-deadline-2023

I think first you have to see the Judge status. If he is back in say August then not really a concern there and then they basically down to do they get a real LF and do they trust Donaldson and DJ to figure it out and one of them be at 3B in a playoff series. I would think LF is the biggest need I know they were connected to Ian Happ last year, but the Cubs are within 5 games of the division so maybe thats not as high of a chance to happen. Bellinger I think is possible, but not sure if that improves the team much. I guess there a possibility with the White Sox with Giloto who has an expiring contract + one of their OF's, but again not sure how much that helps.

They have Odor, Cruz, Plawecki, Carpenter (has an option), but do the Yankees really want any of those offense guys? I can see Hader and Snell being helpful, but for offense I think Carpenter could be had, but I think the injury from last year is still effecting him as he's only hitting .178. As far as guys who are a FA after next season Soto does fit there with his 23 mil contract this year, ARB in 2024, and FA in 2025. Do the Yankees do it though? He would solve their OF problem and has an OBP of .423

I'd be shocked if they were prepared to blow it up so quickly.

I've never been a German fan. Trade while his value is high.
