Would you include Spencer Jones in a deal for Yandy Diaz or Jack Flaherty? That's what it will probably take. I would. I'm not sold on Spencer. I'm not trading Jones for Diaz but I would have for Paredes. This. Very much this. He's not only a good hitter, he's also unafraid in high leverage. He can be pitched to, but if you make a mistake, he'll kill it. He's also a solid defender at 3rd.

Cashman was unwilling to make the big move in the off-season except offering Yamamoto a contract he wasn't taking. Cashman refused to make a big move in Spring Training when Cole went down. Cashman refused to make a big move early in the season. What makes people think he would do it today? His ego that he is smarter than everyone else and will find a dumpster gem is to high. Soto was a big trade. Pitchimg. Only move was average Stroman.

He can be pitched to, but if you make a mistake, he'll kill it. And he would finally have put an end to the 3rd base problem. Plus, you still could have made the Jazz trade and use him as your future 2nd baseman.

The Buccos are really going for it! Would IKF start at 3B for this team ? He was last year's designated whipping boy...flourished in Toronto. Hope he continues to do the same in Pittsburgh.

Soto was a given. Everyone knew the Yankees would get him and if he didn't Cashman would have been gone. I'm enjoying Soto but 1 and done would be a huge fail.

Huascar Brazoban, Marlins releiver, traded to the Mets, a similar story to Leiter, a 30+ year old retread who resuscitated his career this year, but unlike Leiter, he's a hard thrower, throws sinker and 4-seam both 95-6-7, but relies more on his cutter and change. Very high K and K-BB rates this year, and he might have been in the mix to close in Miami after the trade of Scott, but not with the Mets, unless Diaz continues to struggle.

Oh boy: O's just traded for Eloy Jimenez. No details yet. Edit: Jimernez having a terrible year, but the O's either think he'll respond to playing on a contender, or think they can fix him.

It's almost 6:00 and the Yankees still haven't traded for a Closer!

I thought he was fine when he playing his best position, 3rd base. The Yankees didn't do him any favors sticking him in the OF, but they were so shorthanded out there.

Welp, unless something happens in the next 10 minutes (or is reported afterward), we're looking at a WC loss or ALDS loss.

I'm not sold on Jones, either; but there's a lot of raw potential there as he showed in the spring. For Flaherty, mainly because he's a rental. I like Diaz to a degree, but his numbers are down pretty significantly across the board this season, and approaching 33, he could very well be in decline. I don't see him as a significant upgrade to the lineup this year, and he could become more dead weight in the very near future if he continues trending down.

I thought that's what "team players" do.

It's almost 6:00 and the Yankees still haven't traded for a Closer! This does bum me out. I feel that's our biggest flaw as I have no faith in Holmes anymore. He was lights out to start the season, so maybe he turns it around, but he's been really bad since mid-June.
