Jeff Passon just now on Sportscenter: “The Yankees will probably be the most significant players in the Ohtani sweepstakes if LAA trades him. They are serious.”
What do you think guys? Is this for real or just a push to drive ratings by the media?

Passan is never one to give out fluff. He was the only one that never wavered on Judge staying. I think it's real but that doesn't mean the Angels will trade either. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk I'll be praying that the Angels lose every game to drop out of the playoff race and hopefully trade Ohtani.

Maybe the ghost of the Boss visited Hal and told him NOT to let the Mets steal all the headlines in NYC. Go get the star of stars!

It may be the only way to save Cashman's job in the future - that is, if such a move procures a World Series title. Of course, this presupposes that the Angels make Ohtani available. Cole and Ohtani and Rodon as the starters in a playoff series? Pretty stout, and which other team could match up with those three? Ohtani also assists to fix the utter imbalance in true Pinstriped threats from the left side, and the big lefty would thrive on the Yankee Stadium dimensions in right field. Ohtani would have to play the outfield, which would mean right field in Yankee Stadium, Judge moving to his self-admittedly preferred centerfield position with Stanton at DH, and Bader becoming another Gardner-esque centerfielder that is needed to patrol the expanse of left-field at home. We already know that Bader is good enough to be a plus defender at any position, and Judge has demonstrated in college and in MLB that he is more than effective in centerfield, where there is absolutely no adjustment for him moving from right field. Ohtani's arm in right and Judge's arm in center would be deadly.

I’d almost rather be focused on one aspect and became the amazing force he could be. Let him relieve when needed… even spot start. Get that bat in the lineup every day…

What if we trade for him today and he leaves us for FA 3-months??? We lose our High Value Prospects, NO Ohtani and still left with Boone/Cash and their...

Plus WADE is back mon the market who plays 6-positions as compared to Ohtani who only plays 2-positions and WADE is very cheap. Wait for OHTANI in FA

I don’t know what it would take to get Ohtani, but I think if a deal can be made, you have to do it. I get where some of you are coming from with the whole “wait until FA. Don’t overpay for a rental.” While I definitely understand that, I really believe the ONLY way he’s a Yankee long term is if we trade for him. Why? He’s already essentially turned us down once. It was reported he didn’t want to play on the East Coast, among other things. If he comes here and plays great, the fans, the city, everyone will love him. It may show him that he can handle New York and calm whatever reservations, if any, there are about playing on the East coast. Another thing to consider is that the ownership group like we have discussed doesn’t necessarily push for Free Agents as aggressively as the old man. We all know they have the money, but it’s a business to them. This could work both ways with Ohtani saying ok I can do this and Hal and co. seeing damn look how much he makes us better plus they’ll see dollar signs with all of China in Pinstripes. I may have went on a little rant, but in my mind, it’s makes sense lol.

As I reported on @mlb Network this morning, sources tell me the Angels front office will consider incoming trade inquiries for Shohei Ohtani. The club is not ruling out the possibility of a deadline deal, even though the standard to move Ohtani is extraordinarily high. The team’s performance over the upcoming homestand will be a big consideration in the Angels’ ultimate course. At this point, many in the industry still view a trade as unlikely.

Okay, since we’re dreaming, would you guys rather have Ohtani or Soto? I think I’d take Soto…

Every season, the Yankees are tied to every big name at the trading deadline, but how often does a trade actually happen? When Judge comes back, are we one more player away from a championship team? We've all seen the current edition of the Yankees , and so has Cashman, is he willing to risk the farm on one player getting them the WS title? He might, because he has a glut of good players in their lower minors that can't be moved up. Not having Staten Island and Palanski has been terrible for them. So, if he's not going to call up Peraza, Florial, Pereria, Wells, et al. he might as well trade them.
