In celebration of Kaybli's birthday, I ordered some Chinese delivery. No Michelin stars, but a real Asian guy delivered it. General Tso's Chicken by any chance? Flied lice?

Nice play by Bader. If he could only get on base at a .350 clip.

For so many years Chinese food was the only Asian food you could get in most parts of the US. When we moved to DC in 1981 and found all the Vietnamese and Cambodian and Korean and Thai food we were in culinary heaven.

In Dallas and surrounding areas, there are many more Thai and Poke places than Chinese. The same was true in California. Many more places for Pho and Thai and Korean than traditional Chinese restaurants. In the 1980s, there were so many Chinese places everywhere. Unfortunately, as the parents aged, the children did not want to continue in the business. Many of my favorite places in Louisiana are shuttered for good.

Cole has shut them down since the first salvo.

The kids of the Chinese restaurant owners went to Yale or Stanford or the University of Chicago. In Chinatown in Philly there are more Vietnamese restaurants than Chinese. While I do prefer Vietnamese or Thai to Chinese, Chinese is still my Asian comfort food. First love and all that.

Cole still looks like the odds-on Cy Young winner.

Chinese restaurants have really dropped in quality in my opinion - still good, but no longer great. Egg-rolls and dumplings, especially, have taken a nose dive - like frozen food quality now. Thai and Vietnamese seem to be coming into their own, with much more creativity and flair. I also do not feel as sluggish after Thai and Vietnamese cuisine.
