The Cubs and Mariners were in worse shape then and made up the entire ground they were behind in less than 2 weeks. There was no reason to call the Yankees out of it with a closer deficit at that point. If all you want is to make the play offs that might be true. I think its better to not make the play offs and when we finally get there have some reasonable chance of making it to the WS. Any team can get hot and win in the playoffs. |

If all you want is to make the play offs that might be true. I think its better to not make the play offs and when we finally get there have some reasonable chance of making it to the WS. They calculated that they could win it all with what they have. No doubt Hal still thinks that. I think I give the most realistic takes on the team and all I can calculate is they have a small shot if they can stay 3 or less behind Toronto when they play them later in the season since Toronto is just as inconsistent as the Yankees. I also can calculate a win against the Twins in the Wild Card round, but once they face a team from Texas I can't divide by 0. If the Yankees make it that far, I don't see them beating the Twins. Gray or Lopez will shut them down. It will be a battle of bullpens, but with the Yankees bullpen already on fumes, Gallo with a walk off homerun. |

The feed on my TV froze up for about 5 minutes with Bader coming to bat, but I couldn't tell any difference.
