That injury brings back memories. I've broken both ankles, but that reminds me of an LSU Intramural Basketball Tournament, in which I landed on a big red-head's (6'10") foot going inside for a lay-up. There was a loud crack, and I was on crutches for weeks. Feel really bad for the guy.
