Thanks, Kay. Last night, he told me that in his thirty years of marriage, his wife has never made him breakfast, never even fixed him a sandwich. Also, once when he was late for work, he asked her if she would iron his pants. She replied, "I'm not your maid!" Now, consider this - she does not work. His kids are 25 and 23 and out of the house. Sarah and I loved doing things for each other. We thought of ourselves as a team - we even had a name for it: "Team Pokie." That was my wife's nickname. Sarah and I loved making life easier for each other, and most of the time we didn't even have to ask. How miserable I would have been in a relationship such as his. Even worse, his wife often weaponizes the kids against him. Just despicable. How damn lucky I was. When faced with companionship or peace, I'll take peace every time. Companionship should be the source of peace and happiness, not some hateful construct of self-involvement. Ugh! I get the shivers just thinking about being in his position. Did that make you the Pokie-man of the team? Only during their most private of times…

Sounds like what you and Sarah had was what most people look for in life. I for one, am envious. Gloria is my first serious relationship and we didn't meet until I was in my 50's. These 17 years haven't always been easy and for a while I didn't think we'd make it. Seven years ago, I was on the verge of leaving her, when we found out she had ovarian cancer. I may be a lot of things, but not the kind of person who would leave someone who is sick. She got better, but then I got my mystery illness. It hasn't been easy for her, but thankfully, she stayed with me. About a year and half ago, we were on the verge of splitting up, but then we decided to try therapy. That's when she realized she had severe childhood PTSD and everything changed. Even though I grew up on an island, my early years weren't any day at the beach either. We were just two mixed up people trying to hold on. The therapy has been tough, but the last year has been the best. We have a long way to go, but both of us have an understanding of how we have to keep moving forward and not look back. It's weird, I just realized none of my "friends" know we're in therapy, but here I've told you guys. Ruth and I had a little rough patch a few months ago. She seemed to have lost her purpose, I tried to get through to her and finally suggested she try a therapist. She did, and in three sessions the therapist told her what I had been telling her. She snapped back to normal and things have been fine. She had some childhood PTSD, followed by more from her first marriage…

But I’m glad you guys tried therapy and it’s working for you! My best wishes. You’re a special person and you deserve all the happiness in the world!

I'm so fortunate I found this special place to hang out a little everyday. I believe friendships may be the most important thing in life, because without them, there's no one to tell your stories at the end. Gloria and I were watching an episode of Boston Legal and Michael J Fox's character is dying and throws himself a living wake at a bar. I immediately told her that's what I want because one thing I've accomplished in life is, I've hung around without a lot good story tellers. I'm an Atheist, so drinking lots bourbon and laughing my ass off after hearing my friend G.T. tell the story how I almost got arrested for littering because I was lying down in a parking lot, will be my heaven.

We're glad you found this place too, desousa! Ofcourse, more than the Yankees this place is all about the friendship and camaraderie we all share! Now if those fools could just get back to winning.

That was the same night Phil Jackson was coaching the Albany Patroons and he had to be restrained by his coaching staff from coming up into the stands after me after I road him the whole game. At least that's the story I heard.
