Lou Gehrig didn't need a day off until he was dying. Heck, even Hideki Matsui didn't need a day off until he broke his wrist. Unless you are slumping or hurt, days off are silly. MLB has never had more injuries to pitchers since limiting innings and pitches. Four plate appearances at DH isn't exactly digging ditches or mining coal. One of the things I'll never understand. If more rest resulted in fewer injuries I would get it. But that isn't remotely the case. Far more players sit with injuries today than at any time in baseball history. Up until the 1950s teams were limited to having two players on the DL at a time. More than that and you played short-handed. There would be a lot of forfeits if that rule were still in place. I had no idea of the limitation to the DL! Thanks for that bit of knowledge. If that were the case throughout MLB history, young Inger may have gotten a chance to patrol centerfield this season.

That was an 89 mph pitch that Peraza launched deep into the left field seats; however, I still have not seen his ability to hit good fastballs yet.

Pereira with an opposite field fly to end the Yankees half of the inning.

Probably the best thing Joe Girardi did as manager was to allow Pettitte and Jeter to take the ball from Mariano to end his career. I'll never see Girardi as just a binder boy for that one act of thoughtfulness.

The Egg Roll King has definitely left his early career starting jitters behind him. Those first inning fails are no where to be found now.

Zero hits through three for the Yankees offense. Gausman has good stuff, but we have seen this ground plowed many times.

I'll be pulling for the Baltimore Orioles throughout the playoffs as the representative from the AL East. Also, RIP Brooks Robinson. As Cone said, Robinson and Mark Belanger were as good as it has ever been on that side of the infield defensively.

A big positive heading into next season is how King has grabbed a hold of this starting opportunity and shown everyone that not only can he handle it but he can flourish. The only negative is the team misses him in the bullpen.

DJLM with a nice pick at first and throw to second to get the lead runner.

Too many pitches to one side of the plate (away) this inning for King. Blue Jays are watching them now. Need to change the eye level and go inside.

I'm not sure who I'm going to cheer for in the post season, I haven't even thought about. It certainly won't be Houston or Toronto.

Big pitch for King. Just realized they are replaying the Fins vs Broncos game on NFL Network. Will be channel surfing now.

Funny how a pitcher can walk the bases loaded, go 3-0 on the next hitter, then throw 3 straight strikes to end the inning. Gotta love it.
