The NY Post: DJ LeMahieu injury: Yankees' likely leadoff hitter could miss start of season with 'significant bone bruise' Looks like we’ll get a dose of OzCab at third for a while. I wonder if Boone will slot Volpe at the top? Be nice if he did and it worked out for the long run. I see DJ as a good lower half of the line up producer that can help drive in some runs…

Worst case, if the pitching (i.e.Cole) doesnt work out, and the Yankees are out of it by the trade deadline ... They could always turn around and probably get top $ for Soto to a contender

I agree that Brito or Vasquez is going to be the sixth starter at best… The last time I checked, Brito had really pitched well this spring and Vasquez struggled a bit, so I expect Vasquez to be the odd man out.

FanGraphs | Ben Clemens: Gleyber Torres’ improvements in 2023 have given him a robust projection for 2024. The Yankees cracked No. 3 on the second base position player power rankings due to Torres’ expected career year by fWAR. His offense is expected to stick while his baserunning and fielding should likely regress to the mean and see slight improvement from how poor they were last year. If Torres has a career year, he’ll solidify his need on this roster beyond 2024.

In that scenario, if the Yankees then sign Soto when he becomes a free agent...Will the Yankees lose draft picks, international bonus money?

Bryan Hoch: Starting Pitchers (5): Nestor Cortes, Carlos Rodón, Marcus Stroman, Clarke Schmidt, Will Warren With Cole set to miss at least a month due to a right elbow injury, the Yanks' depth will be tested earlier than expected. Cortes will draw his first Opening Day start on March 28 in Houston. Yankees people raved about how Warren bounced back after being let down by his defense in a March 17 start against the Red Sox, and the rookie might be able to lock up a rotation spot with a strong finish to camp.
The buzz says Warren will be the 5th starter.

The Athletic | Chris Kirschner: The Yankees acquired Alex Verdugo via trade, and even though he will have a spot on the Opening Day roster, he has been doing his best to start on the right foot with his teammates. Not only does that include solid performance on the field, but it even includes paying for his younger teammates’ haircuts, specifically the minor league players, because they don’t get paid nearly as much as the major league guys do.
