Pinstripe Alley Top 100 Yankees: #15 Thurman MunsonThe captain led the Yankees to glory, before leaving us far too soon.
I remember like it was yesterday when Steve Bosh, on WPIX 11, reported that Munson had died in a plane crash. I cried like it was a family member. In some ways, it was. My 2nd ALL-TIME favorite Yankee, after Bobby Murcer.

It was so sad seeing Gulden or Narron behind the plate the rest of the way… The Yankees had really no one in the farm system, since they had traded away Munson's future replacement rookie Mike Heath away in the Sparky Lyle trade with the Texas Rangers in the fall of 1978. That's why 1B Chris Chambliss was traded to the Blue Jays for young Catcher named Rick Cerrone. Clipper

Pinstripe Alley Top 100 Yankees: #13 Bernie Williams
Williams is one of the best outfielders in the team’s long history, and the unsung hero of a dynasty.

Plus I know a few guys who had bad experiences when meeting him, so I went with those I watched and enjoyed.

What year did you start watching the Yanks? …I started in ‘63. Had it not been for an odd circumstance of my youth I would have probably started in about… maybe ‘59 or ‘60… I missed ‘61 by that much, Chief… 🤓
