There was another college QB who briefly signed with the Yankees. He went on to play for the Bronco's, as a Colts fan I still refuse to utter his name. Rubbing salt in the wound...Peyton Manning leads Broncos to Super Bowl Championship after being released by Colts...

Rubbing salt in the wound...Peyton Manning leads Broncos to Super Bowl Championship after being released by Colts... Peyton and his relationship with the Colts is interesting. I know he was hurt when he was released and I think to this day he still holds a grudge. He's too classy to be obvious about it but he seems to embrace Denver as much or more than Indy. The Colts were between a rock and a hard place when they made the decision to let him go. Roster wasn't very good and they were in CAP hell. They had the opportunity to draft Andrew Luck and reset the organization. There was no guarantee Peyton would play again at a high level. Maybe the release could have been handled better but not sure there was anything they could have done to spare his feelings. As difficult of a decision as it was, I think it was the right one. Years later I understood why Luck walked away from the game. I did think the timing sucked. All offseason he was talking about how excited he was about the upcoming season. He announced his retirement after the draft and after recieving a roster bonus.

I know a few people who’ve had dealings with Manning in Denver who have some very funny stories re him & his wife…which I’ll keep to myself. Definitely understand Luck and any other players walking away from the game.

P - Domingo Jean, 1993. I remember a lot of hype around him back in 1993, but his brief 10 appearance cameo that year would be the totality of his MLB career. Interesting anecdote about his Yankee Stadium debut...

Coached against his brother, Darnell, who also had a very brief stay with the Yanks, in Arapahoe Youth League (AYL).
