Rodon leaves after 82 pitches in the fifth (four earned runs). 5-2 Phillies. Errors by K. Smith and Rortvedt didn't help.

Split squad action. Phillies lead the Yankees 5-2. Tigers lead the Yankees 8-5. The Yanks/Phils are televised via MLB.com. The Yanks/Tigers are radio only through that medium. Rodon was missing his spots badly today and if he threw a FB over 93, I missed it. The defense had a few clown show minutes behind him, which didn’t help. Also in the inning (2nd) where the Phils did 2-runs of damage Diaz missed a third strike call and Rodon’s next pitch, a 3-2 was hit for a single and the Yanks just missed an out a first on a potential DP, so a bit of bad luck that inning. But I still pin the most of it on Rodon for lack of command today… OzCab with a HR on an inside pitch that looked like a jammer. |
