Luis Serna, age 19 and has never pitched above A ball is starting for the Yanks, staked to a 3-0 lead. He’s from tiny San Luis, Colorado here in the San Luis Valley. It’s the first town tgat was established in Colorado. We looked at a house in the hills south of San Luis before we decided on this one. It’s only about an hour south of here, where there are still herds of wild horses running, and just a wee bit west of Manassa, home of Jack Dempsey, the champion boxer…
He just pulled the string on a change to fan Cano… ✔️✔️

Man, Oscar Gonzalez just fouled a ball off his face...yikes. He's had a really good spring. Off his right cheek. Out of the game but appears okay. Volpe had third stolen.

Weird pitch, weird swing, weird result. Hopefully just a black eye… I like what I’ve seen of Oscar. I think if we have an emergency he can at least not be an embarrassment…

Mexico City’s elevation is only about 300 feet lower than ours… I didn't notice it at all when I was there. Great weather. I really never notice elevation change much. The only times it got my breath a bit through the years was when I was pushing my son in his wheelchair. Once was when I was pushing him through about 5 inches of snow on top of Pikes Peak @ 14,300 feet. The other time I took him down some steps at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. We were Md tourists then and the 8,800 feet got to me when I was pulling him back up the 40-50 stairs or so. A nice young fellow offered to pull him up, but I told him if he could just get the chair I could carry Micheal (he was about 19 at the time, maybe 130-140 pounds at the time, (I was only 40 then) my shoulder. It worked fine…

Serna on the ropes walks a run in… 4-1 now… asking a lot of him, letting him pitch to another batter…

Grand slam, Diablos lead 5-4… bottom of the 3rd… Serna lost the plate, getting behind batters, and then hung that change up. I thought they were going to take him out earlier. Elevation means it's not going to stay in the park.

Red Devils put up 8 runs this inning. Watson has terrible mechanics.

Geez. 8 run inning. 8-4 Diablos. If any team comes back here they should bring their “A” squad. These veteran players are too polished for these kids and outcasts… (Apologies to Stanton, Trevino, and Volpe)…
I’ve seen enough. I’m out…

All right. I left the house to walk out to the mail box and forgot to turn the TV off. Bottom of the sixth, 8-5. There’s not much else I feel like doing… The dogs are snoring on the couch. I’m in a rocking chair we picked up at an estate sale for $5 a couple days ago.
I wrote about the sale then, but it was one of those posts that disappeared when I was almost done typing.
I also bought a small plastic planter, 3 rocks with Formica in them and two amalgamates that I can add to my hardscaping, 2 long metal tent stakes, 5 shorter yellow plastic tent stakes, a piece of a cattle panel that was about 5 feet long, a couple horseshoes, the kind that actually went on a horse, a blacksmiths tong… and this chair. Total bill= $13.00. The stuff is mostly in my shed awaiting the appropriate emergency, though some pieces were for display…
I’ll go back in a few days and see what else is unpacked…
