I'm watching Detroit-White Sox game....I haven't seen much of Boyd before, but watching him now....he looks good....good fastball, and his slider and curve can tie hitters up...he has struck out 7 through 3 innings.... I'm sure it would take a package leading with Frazier to get him....still, that's the type of guy that makes more sense to me than Wheeler, for example... Detroit asked for Gleyber for him. |

I believe the only player I would trade Gleyber for would be Scherzer....and if that happened it would be predicated on the expectation of 2 WS titles in the next 3 years....although winning just one would make it worthwhile...
Maybe I would trade Frazier for Boyd...he looked OK...lot's of swing and miss stuff...

More and more my expectation is that any pitching trade we make would be for an under the radar candidate... Price is going to be a major issue, both in salary and talent cost. Cashman usually wants to have his cake and to eat it, too. Not only that, but he usually finds a way to do it...

Not only that, but he usually finds a way to do it... you're right about that...Cashman trades are usually a surprise....I saw a suggestion on MLB.com that Albert Abreu might bring Wheeler to the Yanks...I know Abreu is highly regarded....what do you think of that by way of discussion? |

I’d say that Abreu’s profile suggests that he could be exactly what Wheeler is now in the future. If that’s the case, then both teams get what they need. That would be a fair and even deal. Of course it would be sweeter if we can sign Wheeler after the season, but we can cross that bridge when we come to it. I’d think Abreu to have the stuff to wind up in a #3-#4 slot, with the bullpen as a worst case fall back, and on some days he’ll put it all together and be top notch... just about like Wheeler is now... I would say most likely, the Mets will ask for another player, not a major piece. The Yankees resistance to that may make or break the deal... |
