I think cashman is afraid of being burned by trading elite players for elite players. . You’ve said this before and it’s been explained that the actual trades he has made demonstrate exactly the opposite but you keep saying it anyway. It doesn’t become more true just by you continuing to repeat something untrue. You are welcome to list all the elite players he has traded in the last five years. Miller is the only one I can think of.

If you’re talking about relievers, Chapman comes to mind immediately...

It was quite a cheat to demand named from only the past five years by the way, since that places the trades within the era while the Yankees purposefully built from within...

I think cashman is afraid of being burned by trading elite players for elite players. With Andujar return next year we have far to many infielders. He probably should be traded. I doubt Cashman is afraid of being rooked in trades....certainly, he has won more than he has lost.... Is Andujar an "elite" player?....was Montero considered an elite hitter when he was traded?.... I imagine it is harder to trade elite for elite, because one of the GM's does not want to give his guy up....that is why Cashman has excelled...he has found the less-valued guy in other organizations, and traded for them with excellent success.... I hope for a big-name pitcher at the deadline too, but the asking price may well be more than it is prudent for the Yankees to pay...realistically, it seems to me that the Yankee front office is run about as well now as it has ever been....

Interesting comments from the SF front office about possibly not selling at the deadline. Sounds like posturing to me but you never know.
The Giants have quietly posted a respectable 15-10 record over their last 25 games, and have moved to 5.5 games behind the Phillies for the last NL wild card slot. While San Francisco is still ahead of only the Mets and Marlins in the overall National League standings, president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi told reporters (including Henry Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle) that he “wouldn’t rule out” being a deadline buyer. “I still think there could be opportunities for us to trade away younger players for guys who can help us now….I think the most important thing for us in this period is to maintain flexibility and our own open-mindedness over what makes the most sense as we get close to that July 31 deadline,” Zaidi said.

I read an article where team’s are supposedly calling them about the availability of Pablo Sandoval. Any idiot GM that would want to add the jewel-encrusted hog liver to their roster deserves to have keep paying him. He stated the season got. He’s back to being what he really is now... He’s 32. He’s enormous around his belly. He’d be great in a beer softball league...

I am just testing the minimum level that would be acceptable to the posters here as an additional pitcher at the deadline....of course we want the best, but given that the cost might be prohibitive, who would we reluctantly settle for?.....
How about Ian Kennedy from KC?...they have been using him some in relief, so less than 40 innings pitched..ERA about 3.6 and WHIP about 1.2...…….would a trade for someone like this be deeply disappointing, or do you think someone like that could help?

lots of feints and dekes from the GM's around the league, but apparently Boston is sniffing Wheeler...and the Yankees checking out Bauer...Minnesota has come back to the pack, so I don't expect the Indians to give up the season only about 5 games back...same old names being floated as a month ago...saw Cashman quote that he was working hard and had nothing to show for it....

There's rumors out there that the Indians may consider trading Bauer if they get major league ready talent in return to help them with their playoff push.

He seems like a lousy person based on the way he treated that girl on twitter, but if they would take Frazier for Bauer I would make that deal and hope that in the NYY clubhouse he's a better version of himself.
