I forgot about this thread, I should have posted this here. I really hate that Dominguez is going to have to start in the minors but where's the room for him right now? Over Stanton I guess against righties and over Verdugo against lefties?

As much as I love Soto, I think he will be too expensive. Dominguez in center, Verdugo in left, Judge in right. I do like the idea of Judge at first base. don't think there's such a thing as "too expensive" relating to Soto at this point. He's a must re-sign in my opinion.

There are "cheap" players in Wells, Dominguez, Volpe, Cabrera and potential 1B/2B replacements. If they do decide to re-sign Gleyber it certainly won't be for a mega contract, and the same will be true re Verdugo. There's also the possibility Stanton can be moved.

As much as I like his offensive prowess, I have mix feelings in retaining his services. Contracts upwards of 15 years is a big risk. Obviously players put their best foot forward prior to FA. 500M plus is a big ask as Boras attempts to sell it. Lets remember his recent representation for 3 clients was a bust. Selling to the highest bidder doesn't always play well for his client as it certainly works well for his pocket. If Soto is flourishing in NYC, he has two options in front of him. A teams that's always in the mix for post season baseball and a another that is not so much. Is his priority cash driven or awards/accolades driven? You got to know Cohen has deep pockets. Steinbrenner is held accountable to other investors. He is not the solo arbitrator. I don't see him fighting tooth and nail with Cohen to acquire his services. I see Hal stating Yankees will give him ample opportunities to win WS and at the same time offer him more than an admirable contract. If Soto is searching for every dollar, he might find himself across town with a franchise that are likely sellers in the months ahead...Always the bride's maid and never the bride. Someone who never quite fulfills his ambition to win titles if that is his aim. Base on what has been reported, $$$$ takes precedence over all else. 500M plus? I'll be ok with Judge, Dominquez and Verdugo.

This November the Yankees will very likely hear from the agent for G Cole that he is opting out of his deal. As you know, the Yankees can force him back by adding a season to the end of his contract. Or they could let him walk and free up $ 35 M to use to retain Soto. If you could only choose one, which is it ?

I can't say for sure 55, but their plan might be to re-sign Soto and Cole (if he opts out), then hope their prospects reach their potential.

I can't choose between Cole or Soto for which one the Yankees to keep, they should keep both of them.
