I don't want jinx Stanton...but we know it's coming. Stanton: Me gots tiny booboo Yankees: Stanton to 10-IL as a “precautionary measure” 9.75 days later: Stanton: Uh-oh. Me gots bigger booboo than I thought. Yankees: Stanton moved to 30 Day IL 29.75 days later: Stanton: ouch! Booboo still hurts. A lot! You see where this is going. Yanks add Stanton to 60-day IL and buy him a bag of Haribo gummies. Stanton: Yum! Thanks for the $30 millions!…

This November the Yankees will very likely hear from the agent for G Cole that he is opting out of his deal. As you know, the Yankees can force him back by adding a season to the end of his contract. Or they could let him walk and free up $ 35 M to use to retain Soto. If you could only choose one, which is it ? Pat, I didn't know that the Yankees had that option, I thought Cole had an opt out with no strings attached. Thanks for the info.
I can't choose between Cole or Soto for which one the Yankees to keep, they should keep both of them.
I was thinking that because of the injury along with advancing age Cole might NOT opt out. Maybe it will depend on how he pitches after his return…

He's a must re-sign in my opinion. This November the Yankees will very likely hear from the agent for G Cole that he is opting out of his deal. If you could only choose one, which is it ? I remember when Tanaka had a chance to opt out but didn’t. Cole may do the same. Of course, the players association would not agree, so perhaps he’ll get a year added.

I saw that Dominquez played some CF today, so they are reving up his rehab.

Cole only turns 34 this September.

This has been quite the rehab for Dominquez. I think he's going to be really good. Was terrible in the first half last season, but he kept taking his walks, showed who he was in the second half and came up and was lights out. He may not have more talent than other Yankee phenoms like Jesus Montero and Gary Sanchez, but he's got a better mind set when it comes to failure. He didn't have the deer in the headlights look when he was struggling. He just kept going about his business and he eventually came out of it a better player.

I say screw it and just call him up when he's ready to play CF. Sit Stanton against RHPs and Verdugo against LHPs. Make it work. He's too talented to be languishing in Triple A.
