Hypothetical question: If Dominguez comes up and continues his hot hitting the entire year will it be a factor in how far Yanks are willing to go to sign Soto? No.

I don't think so. It may mean they sign Soto and don't sign Verdugo. Guess much would depend on how far "other" teams (Mets?) would be willing to go to sign Soto. If I could wave a magic wand, Yanks would move Stanton and keep both Soto & Verdugo. One of the 4 (including Judge & Dominguez) could rotate at DH to get their ABs. That would be ideal.

I'd like to hear Hal say that... Me too. I'd like to hear him say that the Yankees already re-signed Soto.

I cannot imagine a scenario or situation that adversely impacts the Yankees going all-out to re-sign Soto outside of a catastrophic injury. He's a generational talent, and we saw this weekend what he means to this lineup.

I'd like to hear Hal say that... I;d like to hear him say that I am the new GM. I don't think either of us is going to get his wish.

What would you offer Soto? As you noted in your original question, much depends in how well Dominguez does. Today I would be open to a long term deal that exceeds $ 440 M if it does not include a NTC ( maybe gives him a hefty bonus and addiitional opt outs if traded).

It depends on the payment schedule. I doubt if equal payments will be made each year. That said, I do not want the LT hit to ever exceed $45 M, so I'll put the number 10 on it. You know Soto is going to demand opt outs.

As I've said many times, I don't care how much any individual player is paid...it's not my money. My only concern is the length of the contract, and then only if it stops the Yanks from making moves to improve the team, as it does now with Stanton and possibly DJL.
