Rodriguez takes a sinker on the corner away, 0-1 Slurve outside, 1-1 Sinker outside, 2-1 Cutter down and away in the zone, fouled off Slurve outside by 5-6 inches waist high, chased and topped softly to Volpe, who charges, fields and fires a strike in a hurry to get Rodriguez by a step, 2 down.

Without looking, I thought Seattle was hitting better than they have…

Raleigh takes a cutter down and in, ball 1 Splitter outside bounced foul, 1-1 High slider into the zone, Raleigh takes a huge hack and misses it somehow, 1-2 Slider into the op of the zone, outside middle, foul tipped into the mitt, K, inning over.
Nice 1-2-3 for Stroman in the 1st, just 12 pitches
Bottom 1, 0-0.
Sox-Rays are 0-0 bottom 2 in Tampa.

just an observation - not sure what to make of it, but over the last 11 games, oswaldo has only had 4 starts as berti is getting more of the reps, making his 3rd straight start. tonite is a LH but it can't all have been matchups. also 3rd straight for trevino who has been on fire. Isn't it Gilbert? Think he is a RH. Berti has been pretty hot of late. you're right a RH. berti has been hot - you mean coming off one good game? as we've seen during the boone years, hot hasn't mattered. players have sat hot or not.

Without looking, I thought Seattle was hitting better than they have… As always, their pitcher's park hurts their hitters and helps their pitchers. Their hitting is 14th in the AL in home OPS 5th in road OPS> Volpe... takes a FB high, 1-0 Slider on the corner inside, 1-1 FB tails inside at 98, makes Volpe pulls the hands in. Cutter to the knees in the middle, taken, 2-2 Slider just inside at the knees spoiled foul Misfires a splitter that sails inside and hits Volpe on the left leg just below the butt-ocks.

Volpe on 1st, 1 out for Soto Soto shows bunt takes a FB just inside, 1-0. Or maybe not, Gameday says it was a 5% strike that got a Soto-call Throw over on Volpe. FB outer 3rd thigh high, taken, 1-1 Slider down and in, Soto starts, but checks in time, 2-1 Slider above middle, chopped to the right side, Rojas gets the force to Moore, but beats the relay.

Soto on 1st, 1 out for Judge. 1st pitch cutter right down the middle, belted to deep center, goes over Rodriguez off the wall, he plays the carom deftly, and holds Soto at 3rd on Judge's double. 2nd and 3rd, 1 out for Verdugo.

Judge is a machine.
And something seems off mentally with Gilbert.

Seattle has a good pitching staff, so runs might be hard to come by in this series. lol, like I said.
