I feel irrational relief for winning a game in May. That three run bomb in the 8th didn't help my nerves.

I stole this from Twitter but
Soto: Launched Juan, then launched another Juan!

Some random observations.
I'm not that impressed with J-Rod. He's had some shaky moments in CF, and he hasn't impressed with the bat either. Maybe he'll repeat his 2023 and get hot later in the season. But the version the Yankees are seeing right now is just meh.
Is Judge the best thing to ever happen to Soto? He's walking at what is a career low rate so far. But I don't think that's because he's being overly aggressive / free swinging. If anything his approach is the complete opposite. I think he's just getting a lot of pitches in the strike zone and he's punishing them. The Soto/Judge combo is incredible and they should absolutely extend him if possible.
I also thought Tonkin was a soon to be goner, but now I am thinking Santana has probably dropped behind Tonkin and will be the odd man out when Hamilton returns. Maybe he'll stick around a lot longer than I thought?

But they thought enough of Santana and Tonkin to demote him since he still had an option.

However they need to manage it, Soto needs to be locked up and kept in the Bronx. The other pending FAs should be a very distant second in importance. Gleyber, farewell. I like Rizzo and Verdugo but not at the cost of losing Soto. Holmes might be the toughest decision as he'll probably be in line for a very nice raise. Depending on how healthy the SPs end up, you could think about trading one of the pricier ones as well. Stroman or Rodon could be moved after 2024 IMO if the others are all healthy.

also boone said scott effoss should be facing hitters soon. as good as the pen has been, you have to wonder about the sustainability (there have some leaks lately) and you'd like to see more strikeouts. kahnle, gil and effross would address that.

I'm not a Cashman or Boone fan, but the one thing I'll give them credit for is their consistent management of the bullpen over the last several years. The organization is very good at getting pieces to fill the 1450+ innings that comprise a MLB season. Other than Tampa, who seems to create guys who can throw 98+ every year, the Yankees are a strong second behind them. Also, when they let someone go, they don't seem to be going to other organizations and contributing. The organization has a good eye for bullpen arms.
