I really like Kim, but his offense is down so far this year…

I was at this game last year with my son and it was one of the most frustrating games I've ever went to. Cease actually walked 6 or 7 Yankees which is why his outing was so short, but Yankees could score, stranding runners all over the place. A perfect example of their 2023 season. Cole was the opposing and pitched well until Boone tried to squeeze an extra inning out of him in the 8th and the wheels fell off. I got to see rare 2023 Cole loss in person. That sucks Chi! Hope you see a better game this year if you go! We have tickets for one of their games at Wrigley. I'm sure we'll go when the play the White Sox too but their tickets are easy to get. No reason to get them in advance.

Sinker outside to Kim, ball 1 Sinker inside, 2-0 Sinker above and inside middle, fouled back off of Wells or the ump, 2-1 Sinker misses the outside corner, Stroman gets a break, called strike 2. 0 % on Gameday Slider inner half, grounded sharply to Cabrera, who fires to Torres for the force to get out of the jam. Inning over. Top 3, 2-0 Yanks. 19 pitches for Stroman in the 2nd, 37 through 2.
Cabrera, then back to the top for Volpe and Soto for the Yanks in the 3rd.

His last start against the Yanks was excellent. In the middle of 2023's poor season, he dominated the Yanks for 5 1/3 shutout innings in a game in Chicago in early August, allowing just one hit, 0 BB, and striking out 7 in a 5-1 White Sox win. The Yankees' team quadruple slash line vs. Cease stands at .225/.349/.493/.842.

You're quite right, chi, I read that line wrong. He didn't strikeout 7 and walked none. He walked 7 and struck out 6, and I remember that game and how frustrating it was now that you corrected me.

Cabrera takes a very marginal strike, a FB above the top by a hair, 0-1 Then fouls off a FB a bit higher. Then gets a FB just as high, inner half and pops up to Campusano in foul ground, 1 down.

I know it’s only the 3rd, but the home plate ump is really bad.

Volpe takes a FB in the zone down and in, 0-1 Slider outside, 1-1 Slider low and away, Volpe chases and misses, 1-2 Slider bounce over the outer half, Volpe can't check and K's, 2 down.

Curve misses above the high outside corner, called strike 1 anyway, blown call, 0% on Gameday, and not close Drops his one a game change onto the outer half, surprising Soto, 0-2 Slider bounced, 1-2 Can't check on the slider on the low, outside corner, and it wouldn't have mattered anyway, because it caught a piece of the corner, K, inning over.
Soto argues the first pitch with Miller for quite awhile, but manages to not get ejected.
Bottom 3, 2-0 Yanks. 11 pitch 1-2-3 for Cease in the 3rd, he's retired 8 in a row since Judge's HR
Top of the order for the Padres in the 3rd, Arraez, Tatis and Profar.

Soto is on thin ice as we go to commercial. Looked as though Miller said something that ticked him off anew…
