Except for the crucial flurry that the Rangers got their two huge goals, the Panthers are dominating the first period with their size, and more impressively, their speed. They're clearly outskating the Rangers pretty much all the time, getting to lose pucks first, breaking up Rangers plays left and right, forcing them to hesitate, and holding off ineffectual or late checks to create scoring chances. They've also forced the Rangers to take 3 penalties and scored on 2 power plays. If something doesn't change, this is a 5-2 or 6-3 loss. Or possibly worse.

Musgrove to the mound for his warmups, Volpe about ready to step in.
Rangers barely survive the Panthers late pres with multiple chances from right in front barely stopped, and get off the ice somehow still tied at 2.

Swings over a change dropping just below the knees, inner half, 0-2
FB above the outside corner, fouled off
Change low and away, and Soto is early, rolls over on it to Arraez, takes it to the bag, 2 down.

Sinker thigh high, inner half, lined hard to left, no chance for Profar, it goes off the wall, but Profar plays the carom well, and it was hit so hard, Judge has no chance to try for 2nd, a very long very hand hit single with 2 down.

Change hangs inside corner waist high, and Verdugo turns on it and rifles it down the line, but Arreaz is holding Judge and dives to his backhand to snag it then taps 1st to end the inning.
Two very hard hit balls with nothing to show; Judge's single was 115.8 and Verdugo's grounder was 101.0

Rangers were outshot 15-8 in the 1st, and the Panthers had many more good chances from in close blocked or deflected
