memorial day is usually a signpost for the season. it's no longer "early". everything speeds up from here on.
really hard to complain about the overall performance 37-18 having won 16 of 21 and "on pace" for 108 wins. of course a lot needs to continue to break our way, particularly health, to get there and the orioles are in hot pursuit showing no signs of letting up.
of course, there's been some bad losses but we've also pulled out a number from the brink. cashman did a good job building this team. the additions of soto & verdugo plus the development of wells and ocab has transformed the team and provided the most balanced lineup in years. volpe has developed into the genuine article. we actually have OF this year. sure there are holes but every team has them.
everyone's worries about the pitching hasn't materialized. the starters have been great and the pen, a few hiccups aside, has been quite good and there's help on the way in both areas.
some notable player forecasts:
judge 50 HR 115 RBI (and that was after a terrible 1st month) soto 41 HR 130 RBI stanton 38 HR 85 RBI
verdugo 20 HR 83 RBI rizzo 20 HR RBI 74 volpe 18 HR 68 RBI trevino 15 HR 51 RBI not bad for a catcher playing half the time and his defense & handling the pitchers has been great
onto LA as we head into the next signpost ...
