Bailey... FB outside corner above the waist, 0-1 Change bounced over home, 1-1 Change dives low on the outer half, 2-1 Change misses low/away, taken 3-1. Bailey started but checked in time. Might be time to try another pitch, Wells. About to get a pitch clock violation, but Weaver steps off. Wow!!! Change outside and below middle, mis-hit, tapped down 3rd, a swinging bunt, I thought there was no shot, but Cabrera materializes on the dead run, barehands and flings a strike to Rizzo to nail Bailey by a step and end the game. Superb play by Cabrera to finish the Giants off for tonight.

Was hoping for an opportunity for Kay to say Hjelle has worked himself into a jam... Excellent pun. Someday, you might get your chance.

Yanks win, 6-2, another nice, quiet, polite beating of the opposition. Yanks move to 21 over for the first time this season at 40-19, and guarantee a winning road trip with their 5th win in 7. The Phils won tonight so they stay 1/2 game up for the best record in MLB.
O's, Jays and Red Sox all won, so the Yanks keep pace. The Rays lost to the O's and drop out of the 3rd place tie with the Sox, failling into a virtual tie for 4th-5th with the Jays, the Rays are percentage points ahead.
Yanks still lead the East by 2 games over the O's, 10 1/2 over the Red Sox, and 11 1/2 over the Rays and Jays.

Insane. I cannot remember a Yankee hitting like this in my lifetime, it's been insane; especially considering how poorly he began the season.

1.415 OPS over a months time is nuts.

3rd star of the game: I could give it to Weaver for 1 2/3 innings of effective support for Stroman, but I'd like to give it to Cabrera for maintaining concentration all the way through the last out and making a terrific play to wrap the game up. 2nd star: Stroman, who was outstanding again, and could've had 7 1/3 of shutout ball with better defense behind him. 1st star: Judge for the big 3-run HR to give the Yanks the lead, and the follow-up solo HR his next at bat to add an insurance run.
Judge concludes his Magnificent May at 36-97, 12 doubles, 14 HR, 28 runs, 27 RBI in 28 games, 22 BB and 29 K, 1 SB and just 1 GIDP after 10 in March and April. His quadruple slash line for the month was .371/.488/.928/1.415, and he's now competing with Soto and a couple of others (Witt, Henderson, Tucker) for the MVP Award.

Middle game of the series is 10:05 pm, again on YES. Yanks will call Cody Poteet up from AAA to make his 2nd start of the season, the first was an excellent 6 innings of 1-run ball against the Guardians for a win in the series in Cleveland in mid-April. The Giants will counter with their ace, Logan Webb, who's having an excellent year so far: 4-4 in 12 starts with an ERA of 2.74. Webb came into this game leading the NL in starts at 12 and batters faced at 300, and was 3rd in the league in innings pitched.
OK, preview of tomorrow's game done, time to check notifications...
