If that #17 was onside for Florida, it was by an eyelash. OK, that's the extent of my hockey analysis. Maybe you're right, chi, but the refs gave the Rangers extra time to try to decide to challenge, and they didn't challenge, so it must not have been clear enough to justify taking the delay of game penalty and losing the challenge for the rest of the game. That's a brutal rule where you're assessed a penalty for losing a challenge, they don't want challenges in the NHL. lol.

And that wraps up The Saturday Leaders™, and all the preview stuff for tonight. I'll be back in about an hour for first pitch.

Yeah; it should be enough that you lose the challenge for the rest of the game; the knock-on penalty is gratuitous.

Ok, back with you, Webb throwing his final warmups. Volpe getting ready to step in.
Rangers still down 1-0 after two periods. They're playing better but getting almost no dangerous chances. The Panthres are still getting dangerous chances even though they're not pressing for them. This will get worse as the Rangers get desperate. If Shesterkin stands on his head, and if the Rangers can get a lucky one on a deflection or a weird bounce, they might get into overtimee. Otherwise, I think an empty-netter settles things. Too bad, because they are more competitive tonight, but to little effect.

Volpe steps in. Underway... Sinker on the inside corner near the top, taken, 0-1 Sinker missses just outside above middle, 1-1 Slider low/away grounded toward the 56 hole, but Chapman makes a quick break, cuts it off throws on the move and gets Volpe by a step. 1 down.

Sinker waist high outside corner, 0-1 on Soto, who's just 1-13 vs. Webb in his career. Change misses away, 1-1 Change missed by an inch down and in, 2-1 Change tails outside waist high, 3-1 Change to the knees inside middle taken, 3-2 Change down the middle, Soto waits a long time, lines over 3rd into left for a hit. Ramos cuts it off moving toward the line, holds it to a single.

Ramos makes a nice play to hold Soto to a single, Juan's avg. now up to .314.

Judge... Slider 6 inches outside at the knees, 1-0 Sinkere tails just above middle middle, Judge not ready and takes a meatball, 1-1 Change drops low over the middle, 2-1 Sinker fools both Judge and the ump, clearly a strike 100% well within the zone, called a ball anyway, 3-1. Terrible call Change dives low and away in the zone, Judge swings over, 3-2 Throw over on Soto Soto goes, and the slider hangs waist high, inner 3rd, Judge a bit late and under hits it down the line in right, but it slices foul Change just below the knees, Judge checks, but it hits his bat, goes foul. Not sure that would've have been called strike 3. Soto goes again, Judge fouls off a Sinker above middle. Soto goes again, and Webb leaves a change above the knees, inside middle, and Judge demolishes it, goes more than half-way up the bleachers in deep left center, 2-run HR makes it 2-0, Yanks!!
The Big Dude is strong, folks.

Verdugo... Sinker above middle, taken, 0-1 Sinker into the top of the zone fouled, 0-2 Takes a FB for ball 1, then a change low, 2-2 Change outside, fouled off Change low in the middle, rolled over to Flores at 1st, flips to Webb, 2 down

I’ll be the first to admit I thought Judge was going to struggle all season. So happy I am wrong. Whatever was wrong he’s figured it out

Sinker misses outside above the knees, 1-0 Sinker waist high near the corner inside, fouled back, 1-1 Slider waist-high, outer third, fouled down the right side, 1-2 Hanging slider just outside middle, and Stanton misses barely under, flies out to Matos in medium deep center, inning over.
Bottom 1, 2-0 Yanks 28 pitches in the 1st for Webb.
Judge's 21st HR, and 3rd in 5 at bats: 115.7 mph, 464 feet, 25º launch angle, a HR in 68 of 30 MLB parks.
