Trevino... Takes a FB above the corner away, 1-0 FB misses outside 2-3 inning. Casali holds it there but doesn't get the call. Change low, 3-0 FB well high, Trevino doesn't chased, ball 4. 1st and 2nd with 2 down for Volpe.

Come on Rizzo swinging at balls 4 and 5. His ability to work walks is really down.

Yankees have trouble with guys with big curveballs. The Musgrove Ritual shut them down pretty well in his start against them.

I was hoping the other AL East games would be over so I could update the standing, but all of them are still going on, so the Yanks' division will have to wait until later. Lemahieu... Takes a FB on the outside corner away Change to the corner low/away, lined to right center, falls in front of Fitzgerald for a leadoff single DJ extends his good record vs. Snell, now 7-15 against him, the only Yankee in the lineup with a good record against him before today. Detroit just took the lead from Boston in the top of the 10th, Tigers still hitting. Yeah, I see that on the scoreboard I use and also the Rays closing out the game against the O's. Volpe... Curve down and in, 1-0 Curve drops into the zone above middle, 1-1 FB misses inside, 2-1 Curve drops into the zone inside middle, but Volpe misses under, pops to Ramos in left, inning over. Bottom 2nd, 1-0 Yanks. 21 pitches for Snell in the 2nd, 41 through 2 innings Chapman, Soler and Matos for the Giants in the 3rd. Chapman and Soler are the only Giants on the current roster who've faced Cortes before, and Chapman has a double and two solo HRs. Doesn't throw him a dead first pitch FB Nestor.

OK, we'll start The Sunday Standing™ with the AL Central...
The Guardians stayed hot this week, winning four of six. They've now won 14 of 17, are now 20 games over, and have opened up a lead in the Central. The Royals finally cooled off, losing 6 of 7, and are now 10 games over .500, and trail Cleveland by 5 games. The Twins have also been on a losing streak recently, losing 3 in a row, 5 of 6 and 9 of 11, falling to 6 games over, 2 behind the Royals and 7 behind the Guardians. The Tigers have lost 3 of 5 this week, and, at 2 games under, are behind the Twins, 6 behind the Royals and 11 games out of 1st. The White Sox continue their assault on the record books. They lost their 10th game in a row last night and have lost 14 of their last 15. They're now 29 games under .500, 13 1/2 out of 4th, 17 1/2 out of 3rd, 19 1/2 out of 2nd, and 24 1/2 behind the Guardians. They're back in the race with the 1962 Mets, on pace to go 41-121, 80 games under, the same as that incredibly bad first edition of the Mets.

Soler... Takes a change high, 1-0 Takes FB outside, 2-0 Fouls off a cutter on the inner half, 2-1 Change on the outside corner also fouled, 2-2 Change in a bad location, just below middle middle, lined into the corner in left for a 1 out double.

I keep thinking Judge is going to hurt himself attempting to steal.

Cutter below middle thigh high, pulled hard but foul off 3rd. FB clips the outside corner just below the waist, 0-2 on Matos. FB up and in gets a swing under for the K, classic Nasty Nestor FB or cutter up and in for the swinging K. 2 down.

Schmitt takes a cutter dropping into the top of the zone outside middle, 0-1 Chases a backdoor slider on the corner away, 0-2 FB in a bad spot on 0-2, inside middle, fouled, lucky with that one, Nestor FB outside, 1-2 Cutter on the back door below the waist, lined behind 2nd, Volpe makes a desperate dive to his left, can't get there, goes into center for a RBI single, tying the game at 1.

Casey "At The Bat" Schmitt makes Nestor pay for that Soler double.
