Cutter up and in grounded foul, 1-1
Nestor's velo not as good as last start, sitting 90-91, was 92-3 up to 94 last time
FB on the outside corner, barely, 1-2
FB high again, 2-2
FB just outside at 92 this time, spoiled off the right side
Cutter dives across the whole plate, finished 3-4 inches inside, taken, 3-2
Lollypop throw over to 1st.
Fb thigh high, inside middle, Fitzgeral all over it, hits it hard but hooks it well foul down the left side. BAD pitch there in the drop the bat happy zone.
FB in the zone low and away, fouled off. 24 pitches this inning for Nestor so far.
9th pitch in the at bat coming.
Hanging corner to the high outside corner, lined over short into left center for a hit, Schmitt gets to 3rd easily with 2 down.
Blake goes out to give Nestor a breather. They're hitting him this inning, three line drive hits.

Casey "At The Bat" Schmitt makes Nestor pay for that Soler double. I enjoy the soubriquets you come up with Rizz, but my gold standard is still Dean "Non-Dairy" Kremer. I can't hear his name without thinking of that. |

Needs to get Casali here of he might get knocked out shortly.
Slider misses up and away, ball 1
Same pitch almost the same spot, taken, 2-0
FB hits the corner away above the knees, 2-1
Same FB a bit higher and more in the zone, also taken, 2-2
Slider misses low and away 3-2, and Fitzegerald will be running on the pitch. Fast.
FB near middle, but Casali misses late and under, angrily beats the bat on the ground, the pop goes to short right, Soto comes in to catch it and Nestor gets out of the inning with no further damage.
Top 3, tied at 1.
31 pitches for Nestor in the 2nd, though, and 45 through 2
Soto, Judge and Stanton for the Yanks in the 3rd.

Out West, The Mariners had a great week, winning 6 out of 7. They're now 6 games over and are 4 games clear of their competition. The Rangers had a good week, winning 4 of 5, but are still 2 games under, 4 games back of the M's. The Astros hot streak slowed down, losing 4 of 7 this week. They're 7 games under, 2 1/2 back of the Rangers and 6 1/2 out of first. The A's lost 4 of 6 this week and are 12 games under .500. They're 2 1/1 behind Houston, 5 behind Texas and 9 games out of first. The Angels have lost 4 in a row and 5 of 6 this week. They're 16 games under .500, 2 behind the A's, 4 1/2 back of the Astros, 7 behind the Rangers and 11 games out fo 1st.

I'm saddled with the Giants broadcast, so I don't know if they showed it on the Yankee broadcast, but Art Shallock, the oldest living MLB player and ex-Yankee, is at the game. I know Inger wrote about him recently. Before the game he was in the Yankees dugout wearing a Yankee jersey and Aaron Boone came over and spoke to him. Shallock looks very lively for a guy who just turned 100.
