The old Barnstorming tours were fascinating. They should bring the back, go to states that don't have MLB teams.

That shot by Soto has to portend something, right?… His stuff looks solid, but the FB velo is diminishing a bit Fb low to Rizzo. Slider misses just outside near the bottom 2-0 Slider misses the outside corenr by 2 inches, called a strike anyway. Gameday says 0% and not particularly close, either FB low on the inner 3rd, 3-1 FB up in the zone at 96, outside corner, swung under, 3-2 Shortens up with the bat, Snell humping up to 97, but he spoils it near the corner away. A better FB to hit just outside and below middle, fouled again. |

When Snell's getting a strike zone like he had during the Rizzo AB, he can more effective.

Takes the bounced curve, 2-2
Slightly better curve down and in, but still out of the zone, swung over for the K, inning over.
Bottom 4, 2-1 Giants
A 1-2-3 for Snell, though he did use 19 more pitches, and is at 80 through 4.
Matos, Schmitt and Fitzgerald for the Giants in their half of the 4th.

Jays hold on to beat the Pirates, 5-4.
In the NL Central:
The Brewers made a move forward, winning 5 of 7, and improving to 12 games over .500. They've won 7 of 10. The Cubs broke their 3 game losing streak last night, and they've lost 8 of 10, and falling 1 game under .500, and 6 1/2 back of Milwaukee. The Cards lost their 2nd straight after winning 12 of 15 to get back in the Wild Card race. They're two games under, 1/2 game back of the Cubs, and 7 games out of 1st. The Pirates won last night, but have lost 3 of 5 this week. They're now 4 games under, 1 game back of the Cards, 1 1/2 behind the Cubs and 8 out of first. The Reds have lost 3 of 4 after winning 4 in a row, they've falling into the basement, 8 games under .500, 2 games behind the Pirates, 3 games back of the Cards, 3 1/2 behind the Cubs and 10 games out of first.

I'm saddled with the Giants broadcast, so I don't know if they showed it on the Yankee broadcast, but Art Shallock, the oldest living MLB player and ex-Yankee, is at the game. I know Inger wrote about him recently. Before the game he was in the Yankees dugout wearing a Yankee jersey and Aaron Boone came over and spoke to him. Shallock looks very lively for a guy who just turned 100. |
