More so that we've been friends for over 40 years. One of the tragedies of a certain age is the realization that you can no longer make old friends. When someone has known you since you were a kid, there is an understanding that is singularly unique. But, your memory is correct, I encouraged him to take the job and start over in a new place. I believe it's the right choice, a physical and emotional demarcation that he has moved on. I can understand. I would be heartbroken if some of my good friends moved away from the area. Go visit him when you get a chance! I intend to do so. It's about a four hour drive, if there is no construction or wrecks.

Of course, the big test comes for Gil with a national audience against the Dodgers in the ESPNSundayNightTooManyIn-gameInterviewsTooMuchCameraCamMurderDeathKillcast (now 20% better with added Coney!).
I'm sure the Dodgers great veterans, Freeman, Ohtani and especially Betts, will be studying and working hard to prove Gil is human. Given Gil's command issues, I bet Mookie throws one or two of his 10-13 pitch specials at him. And of course he draws Glasnow, who the Yanks never hit when he's right, as his oppenent. Huge acid test for the rookie.

OK, game 2 is tomorrow at 7:08 pm, unfortunately the Prime Delayed Video Lame of the Week. Chris Paddack, 4-2 with a 4.57 ERA will throw for the Twins, trying to even the series. He's pitched decently in three starts since, but he hasn't won a game since the Yanks beat him up a bit with 5 hits and 5 runs in 5 innings three weeks ago. Carlos Rodon goes for the Yanks, he's 7-2 with a 3.09 ERA, and he's looking for his 6th straight quality start and 6th win in a row. Rodon will be trying to extend the team's 6-game win streak, and extend the run of series without a loss to 10 (9 series won and the 2-2 split against the M's).
Ok, tomorrow's preview is done, and I go to check notifications.

Ok, notifications checked and responded to where needed, so I'm going to get going tonight. Nice to have a night game end before 10 pm, isn't it? See you guys tomorrow evening for Paddack and Rodon. Good night to all of you. Bye.

It's about a four hour drive, if there is no construction or wrecks. And I missed all this in the thread, worrying and writing about baseball. Unfortunately, as we get older, we can only lose old friends. To moving to a new place, to death, and most sadly, to arguments/disagreements that go out of control. You can make new friends, but it's not the same. Well, that's subjective. Worse than losing a friend to death? Well, death is inevitable, splitting with an old friend over a disagreement breaks the relationship isn't and both are still alive, maybe resenting someone you once held to be a brother, shaking your head at what he said, wondering how he could betray the friendship (and he or she is probably thinking the same about you), or wiping each other out of your minds, pretending that it never existed, or didn't mean that much. But it did. Sorry about your friend, rizzuto. EDIT: I had a second thought which I added to my original reply. If you want to take back your "like", it's OK with me.

Another W in the books. Mr NON-Clutch goes deep. If you mean Stanton, it was a pretty bit hit at the time, doubling the lead and allowing Boone to follow through on his plans to give Holmes a second day off in a row.

I am happy for him, as I know he loves being near salt water and able to cast a fishing line in the drink at a moment's notice. When he and I get together, it's like we're 18 years old again. Lots of laughter and positivity and in depth conversations like we used to have in our dorm room. Actually, now that I think of it, he and I have never had a real argument. We can be brutally honest with each other without compunction, as we know everything comes from a good place of concern or friendship. I have been very lucky in my life regarding friends and friendship, but too many of them shuffled off this mortal coil far too soon.

No matter how good the team is rolling I just can't root for him. I want him to get 50 HRs and lead the team to a WS win BUT I will be dancing and celebrate the day he is no longer a Yankee.

Qwik probably has this stat written down somewhere, but we're 122-44 against the Twins since 2002.

You were doing so well when you threw the fridge off the ledge, but then you immediately ran down and put it in the back of your truck! In the dream, I never got there. I was struggling to put my feet through my pants, rushing, afraid that the refrigerator had hit a car. Also, strange was that the refrigerator didn't fall straight down, rather it sailed toward a parking lot across a street. I’m calling this a rather extreme case of #5 Rizzuto. We gotta get you a woman… And I understand the challenge of doing that…

I was watching but had to leave thread early, so: The Great and Skinny Santoni has tacked on… 🐌 Yet another thing to love about this crew. Last year if we had three runs it was a great game…

Also, strange was that the refrigerator didn't fall straight down, rather it sailed toward a parking lot across a street. lol, that a strange dream for sure. I can never remember my dreams. I remember them first thing in the morning but then lose the memory. Maybe I should keep a dream journal. Do I even want to remember my dreams? I'm sure there would be a lot of flying refrigerators in them. I used to do a lot of flying in my dreams… the worst bond from years ago was the one where I would jump hurdles all night, usually in the dark. It was indeed a time of great frustration for me, as I was stuck in a dead end job…

Correa earns a "golden sombrero" tonight. Love to see it. Glad we didn’t sign him…. Semien has turned out to be the best of that super group of SS. Baez? Yikes! It have been throwing refrigerators off everything. My roof, bridges, the Empire State Building, Washington Monument, Pikes Peak…
