Rizzo hasn't done anything in forever. Can he do something now? A single? Walk? Nope. Rizzo has slumped before, but I've never thought he was done until this season. He just doesn't seem to have any pop. If he's hurting, I wish he would just go on the IL until he's feeling better.

I know we can't win them all but that Grisham at bat really pissed me off!

Rizzo takes a strike FB outside middle at 95, Rizzo misses under pops it foul toward the Dodgers dugout, Smith runs over, hangs on to the mask has to lunge back and Ramirez comes in late to nearly submarine him, but Smith holds the catch to end the game. Yanks lose 2-1, and the 8-game winning streak is over. Tremendous pressure on Nestor tomorrow to hold this lineup down for 7 innings, because the key guys have pitched two days in a row. They might have an inning from Ferguson and Kahnle to close. Tonkin might, conceivably, be able to give them an inning. Wonder if they DFA Santana to get another arm here....

The Yankees lost this game because they are carrying a DH that does not run or play the field and that roster sport is wasted. Grisham and Jones are useless so if we have a guy nursing a day to day we lose the ability to PH.

Rizzo is cooked. Maybe Ben Rice can slug his way up here at some point? It sucks having an offensive black hole at 1B. Afraid you're right.

What a waste of a lot of good pitching. Yeah, we seemed to get the worst of pretty much everyone tonight. Rizzo and DJ feel like they're sawdust at this point.

The only thing worse than the loss, was having to listen to the Apple TV announces, gush over the Dodgers... They couldn't even get a run off the Yankee #7 starter.

Friggi' Stanton. What're you doing? Product of his aging, donnie. The guy throws 96-7 with a lot of tail, so Stanton is scissored by the tailing FB to the corner away, and the slow slider breaking well off the corner and down. With reduced bat speed, he has to guess early. So if they start it off the plate away, his best guess is slider missing outside and he's helpless on the tailing FB back over the outer 3rd.

I know we can't win them all but that Grisham at bat really pissed me off! Yep, at that point we just needed one run. A man on third can score on any number of outs or a wild pitch, much less a hit. Grisham not getting the bunt down is inexcusable.

O's wound up beating the Rays 6-3 to cut the deficit back to 3 1/2 games. The White Sox might be about to break their 14 game losing streak, lead the Red Sox, 6-2 in the bottom of the 8th. Crochet went 6, gave up 3 hits, 2 unearned runs and stuck out 10. Jays and A's are 0-0 in the 4th in Oakland.

They lost a tough game in the 11th because they had no bench. Need to have big games Sat and Sun. Turn the page. Hopefully Soto back swinging.

obviously yamamoto giving them 7 innings gave the dodger bullpen the upper hand as their pen was better than ours. though weaver pitched last night, it was only 11 pitches. not sure why boone left hamilton in so long.
not that we had many opportunities but a number of yankees came up short. stanton w 3 Ks, rizzo, DJ and grisham's horrible bunt attempt. since they threatened to bring in soto earlier, not sure why they didn't in that spot. add gleyber and trevino to the hitless parade.

Grisham not getting the bunt down is inexcusable. He's genuinely one of the worst hitters I've seen in some time. Thank God he can play a solid OF, otherwise he's another completely wasted roster spot. Anyway, enough crying. On to the next one. Fffffuuuuuuuuuu that game was frustrating.

OK, game 2 is tomorrow and this is a BAAAAD team to have a short pen against. Yanks will need a truly Nasty effort from Nestor. Dodgers will start young starter Stone, who's pitched very well lately. He's thrown 6 outstanding starts in the last 7 games. He's 6-2 on the season, with a 2.90 ERA. nestor is 3-4 with a 3.46 ERA. Game is on Fox, where Smoltz will talk it to death. Starting time is 7:10 or so.
