If Santana isn't DFA'd and I have to see him in pinstripes again I'm going to...piss and moan like an impotent jerk, I guess. Seriously, though, enough is enough with him.

As long as we have plenty of time here... I have been amusing myself lately listening to old recordings of radio talk show genius, Jean Shepherd. I used to love to listen to him with my dad just before I went to bed in the 70's before he stopped doing his old show. There are a couple of sites around the web where you can download the recordings for free. Just though I'd mention it for any old-time fans of his show. He's still a blast after all these years, and I love references and commercials of old businesses and products that no longer exist. Jean Shepherd co-wrote and narrated the now classic "A Christmas Story"... "You'll shoot your eye out!!!"

I thought we were watching Cashman's 23 Yankees and not Soto's 24 Yankees.

not much to like. was a game for 5-6 innings. then verdugo makes an uncharacteristic misplay. after a stretch of good defensive games, gleyber makes a big error - 2nd in 2 nights. but kahnle can't be walking 2. also didn't care for 5 changeups in a row to teoscar. and that was the ballgame. turned it off after that. and yes please bring up marinaccio.
and what's happened to rizzo?? positives include judge w 2 HRs also just missing one in the 1st. DJ w 2 hits maybe/hopefully showing signs of life. and once again somehow tonkin does a good job. and how bout out new closer - ocab!!!!
looking forward to tonight's pitching matchup as we try to avoid an embarrassing sweep. a tall task for gil. glasnow usually tough on us.

I wasn't a fan of bringing Kahnle back and I think I stated it. As both of you have said, I believe he relies on the change too much. I'm sure there are major league hitters who sit on that pitch as they probably feel they will see it at least once, possibly multiple times during an AB. Warts are starting to show on some of the BP pieces that have been over performing. As some have stated, Soto probably would have made a difference in game 1 but don't believe even he could have helped us overcome the poor pitching in game 2.

A changeup is, of course, effective when it looks like a fastball. It’s most effective as a pitch to throw when a hitter is sitting on a fastball. IMO throwing it as much as Kahnle does gives the hitter the opportunity to sit on it, as you said. Hard to say how the games would’ve turned had Soto been in the lineup, but his absence has definitely been a factor in both games.

I'm sure the hotels, bars and restaurants in NYC are enjoying this. Dunno...I wonder how many are diehard Brooklyn Dodger fans who refuse to give up the ghost. They are all in Heaven now, but there were a lot of Brooklyn Dodger fans where I was born and raised. Not a single one of them rooted for the Dodgers after they left Brooklyn.

The Yankee Fans take over everyplace they play. We took over the West Coast last week. I have no problem with the Dodger's fans coming out to NY as long as everyone is respectful. I couldn't agree more.

Being a Dodger fan in NY today could've been passed down from their family.* All of my kids/grandkids are Yankee fans, and the only connection they have to NY is me. *But...you live there, so I'll take your word for it.

Just garbage at bats with runners in scoring position. Good pitches, too. In my opinion, the Yankees also missed some good pitches to hit the first couple of innings vs Yamamoto.

Judge with a Stanton-type line drive HR… The 👨⚖️… Stanton with a Stanton-type K on a ball in the dirt. If he's a guess hitter or not, I can't remember a player that swings at so many pitches that aren't even close to being strikes.

I love it that all these years later it sill burns him. Smoltz sounds like a guy who is still pissed off because he had a lousy time at his senior prom as someone kept letting the air out of his date.

Are most of them Mets fans? Seems most residents of LI, including Brooklyn/Queens, are Mets/Jets fans...kinda like Chicago with Cubs/White Sox fans.
